On the last day of 2015 I wrote a list of goals for myself. Some I’ve managed to achieve, others not so much. Let’s have a quick look:
My goals for 2016:
To remember to water the one and only pot plant that I will buy at some point throughout the year. FAIL.
Learn how to reverse park. Something I have successfully avoided since obtaining my driver’s license in 1990. NEXT.
To remain Kale Free. ACHIEVED!
Throw the party to end all parties when I finally get the all clear from my Sweary Neuro Bloke. I’m not there yet, but I’m a whole lot closer than I was 12 months ago.
Stop emailing like it’s 1997 and actually use the email function on my phone. ACHIEVED!
Complete a marathon. Of Netflix shows, obvs. ACHIEVED! Several times in fact. The Crown is my current marathon of choice.
Meet a Real Housewife Of Anywhere. Melbourne would be my preference, given that I love to belt out recaps for the show. FAIL. Although Chyka did start reading my blog, so surely that counts for something?
Find a hat that doesn’t look like a lampshade is sitting on my head. ACHIEVED! I finally found one – at the chemist in Noosa of all places.
Ask the Food Nazi how I can juice a taco. FAIL. But I did lose 25 kilos, so I guess avoiding tacos kind of worked.
Write a book. FAIL. Although I did write a chapter that was published in the best selling book, Primary School Confidential by Mrs Woog.
Win some sort of award. I don’t care what it’s for, but it must come with a trophy. FAIL. I am still trophy-less.
And finally, and possibly most importantly, my main goal for 2016 is to have more fun! ACHIEVED! It’s been one rollercoaster of a ride, but 2016 has been fun.

Having my short story, The Benefits of a Station Wagon, published in Mrs Woog’s book was something I will always be grateful for.
Getting out of my comfort zone and doing a photo shoot for Brisbane curve label, Lillianna Plus, was the start of something new and exciting for myself and the blog.
Joining the Styling You team as a Community Manager for the #everydaystyle Facebook group has been so much fun. If you would like to join the group, you can do so here.
Organising and hosting my first charity event was an amazing experience from start to finish. Coffee with Kirsten will be back in 2017 – although second time around we’re replacing the coffee with champagne!
Lock Saturday 22 April 2-5pm in your diary. Champers with Kirsten is happening!
I launched the hashtag #sharedmystyle a month ago and we’re not far off cracking 500 shares of the hashtag already! If you would like to join in (and discover 9 other fabulous hashtags), all the details are here.
I’ve worked with amazing brands and businesses throughout 2016. Sharing their products with you is one aspect of blogging that I absolutely love.
Read my thoughts on the Olympus PEN E-PL 8 here. {Spoiler Alert: It’s all sorts of awesome!}
But the main thing I love about blogging, the reason I do it, is you.
I adore the Kirsten and co. community we’ve created together. There’s always so much love and support happening here, on Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you for reading the blog and following on Facebook/Insta. I really appreciate it and couldn’t wish for a nicer group of people to hang out with everyday.
Have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all back here in 2017 xox
