Welcome to another round of What’s Going Down In Retail Town! Today I thought I’d share with you 5 fun things I’ve found on my latest shopping adventures that have been a big hit at our place and on Instagram and Facebook. Are you ready? Great. Grab your handbag and let’s go shopping!
Fun Thing #1: A Giant Inflatable Donut
Look, I’m not going to lie. When I bought this giant inflatable donut I didn’t realise just how enormous it actually was! Sophie blew it up last week and as I watched it get bigger and bigger, I really did start to have genuine concerns that it would get wedged between the sides of our fairly narrow swimming pool.
But, I’m pleased to report, that despite the fact the scale of the donut makes our pool look like it’s actually one of those pools you buy for Barbie Dolls, Sophie has had so much fun floating around on the calorie free donut!
This photo WENT OFF like a frog in a sock when I whacked it up on Facebook last weekend, so obviously giant inflatable donuts are going to be a thing this Summer. I bought mine from Bardot Junior for $34.95 but I’ve since discovered Lark Store have an awesome range of inflatable pool floats (hello Flamingo drink holder!) that are well worth checking out.
Fun Thing #2: Gold Polka Dots
I’m a huge fan of gold polka dots and have quite the collection of items that feature them, so when these gorgeous placemats from Kmart caught my eye, I knew I had to have them!
They make the perfect backdrop for Instagram coffee photos (don’t laugh, it’s a thing!) and at $2 each, they are a BARGAIN. You’ll find them in the Christmas section of your local Kmart, but I’d get there toot sweet as cute items such as these usually fly off the shelves.
Fun Thing #3: A Pretty Coffee/Tea Cup
It’s no secret that I post a lot of pictures of coffee (see above!) on Instagram (nespresso pale pink or gold pink pod, no fat milk in the frother, no sugar but a very hefty shake of vittoria chocolate on top, thanks very much) My go-to coffee cup is always this one:
and whenever I post a picture of it, inevitably someone asks about it. So here are the details.
It’s part of a Maxwell & Williams ‘Cashmere’ 20 Piece Dinner Set I bought from Myer last year, which is still in stock. It retails for $159.95 but I bought mine on sale (40% off)
I’m fairly sure you can buy the pieces separately now, so if you only need/want a couple of tea cup and saucer sets, head to the back wall of the china section of your local Myer and look for the white Cashmere range by Maxwell & Williams. Hopefully they’ll be there!
Fun Thing #4: A Peace, Love and Pineapples Print!
Who doesn’t love pineapples?! And fun prints for your home?! As luck would have it, I’ve combined my love of both and have this very print available to purchase from my online shop.
It retails for AU$20 including postage and is the only range in The Shop to be endorsed by Pam! (She has Pineapple Print #1 and Pineapple Print #2 in her kitchen…must remember to get a photo of them next time I’m there.)
Fun Thing #5: A Russell Hobs Vintage Collection Kettle
How fun is this new Russell Hobbs retro style kettle?!
It features a huge 1.8L capacity (perfect for when a lot of guests call in!) and is available in three gorgeous matte metallic finishes – bronze, copper and the one I have, charcoal.*
The Russell Hobbs Vintage Kettle retails for $119.95. Matching 2 and 4 slice toasters are also available.
And there we have it. Another round of What’s Going Down In Retail Town done and dusted! Stay tuned for the next instalment, which will probably have a bit of a Christmas feel to it (isn’t it scary how quickly the festive season is creeping up on us?!)
* The Russell Hobbs Vintage Collection Kettle was sent to me for editorial consideration as per my disclosure policy
And now, for something completely different and because I am a little bit nosey, tell me, what was the last thing you bought? It has to be the very last thing. I’ll go first: I did the groceries yesterday, but the last thing to be scanned was a $3 bunch of kale for our organic vegan guinea pigs, Cookie and Snickers. Ok, your turn. Go!
