I’ve blogged about 50 Random Things About Me before, but today I thought I’d share 5 things I’m good at.
Mostly because yesterday I had to park somewhere that only had reverse parking options available and that’s something I just can’t do, which made me think how good I was at not doing that and because I like to think there’s a story in everything, here we go with my list of 5 things I’m good at! Enjoy.
5 Things I’m Good At:
1. Not reverse parking. I am SO good at that! In fact, I’m proud to say that I’ve only completed 1.5 reverse parks since I obtained my drivers license back in 1990. I don’t know why I can’t do them, I just can’t.
Some might say it’s something I should learn to do. I prefer to say that not being able to reverse park is something I’m quite good at thanks very much and if you come driving me with me you should probably be prepared to walk fairly long distances as car parks that I can drive straight into are quite hard to find.
2. Carb Loading. My god am I good at that! Unfortunately I tend to forget the bit about running it off afterwards, although after yesterday’s post both the carb loading and the exercise avoiding has stopped. I know. I’m a bit sad about that too. Before my carb loading intervention happened, there were many options available to me, but my crispy roast potatoes with a cookie dough brownie chaser were probably my preferred carb loading methods.
3. Pretending to be on my phone. I’m particularly good at this when I’m in any sort of borderline social situation that might require some sort of awkward small talk with a stranger. Say for example in a lift, at a function or basically anywhere where I’m feeling a bit like a Nigel No Mates. I just grab my phone and scroll through it, like I’m some sort of urgent text finding mission.
I don’t actually pretend to be talking to anyone or make an actual phone call but instead I just spend a few minutes scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram or maybe catch up on what’s going on over on Facebook.
I don’t do it all the time, sometimes I do actually interact with other humans and say hello to complete randoms, but 9 times out of 10 they just look at me like I’m some sort of weirdo. Unless I’m at a blogging conference, then it’s usually met with some sort of a, “OMG HI! It’s so nice to meet you in real life!” before snapping a selfie together, making sure we follow each other on Instagram and promising to catch up for a drink at the bar later that day. SO.MUCH.FUN!!
4. Not making the bed. Look, I won’t lie. I’m a whiz in the kitchen and I can vacuum the floor like a ninja, but when it comes to making the bed, I just can not be bothered. Fortunately, I married a man who strangely enough, prides himself on making a bed that the highest ranking army official would be impressed with, so that’s his job to do every morning.
5. Forgetting where I’ve put things. Now this is something I excel at. You’ll quite often hear me muttering, “Has anyone seen my….oh never mind, I’ve found it!” or “Do you know where I’ve put my….don’t worry. Found it!” Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?
So there we have it! 5 things I’m good at. Now it’s your turn.
What 5 things are you good at? I’d love to know!
