Welcome to this week’s Friday Five, where I’m discussing 5 Things I’m Really Good At! Let’s get into it, shall we?
Not making the bed
Of the 5 Things I’m Really Good At, I reckon not making the bed is my one true talent.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried making the bed on many occasions, but hospital corners and tight fitting sheets are not my strong points! Clearly my talents lie elsewhere…whipping up banana cakes and shopping are just two examples that spring to mind.
Instead, Scott makes the bed every morning, with military precision I might add. Just look at that donna cover would you? It’s so smooth and tight, you could crack a walnut on it. Although the pillows are bit of a hot mess, so clearly he was having an off day.
Leaving all my shit at the bottom of the stairs
I reckon I must walk past a pile of my stuff sitting at the bottom of the stairs at least 10 times a day and I am REALLY good at leaving it there! That was Monday’s pile in the photo, which features my rubbish bin (the tin bucket) that I had taken downstairs to empty (because it was overflowing), a goodie bag full of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint which I’d used earlier that day to repaint an old box, a cardi I’d been wearing and took off because it was hot and one pair of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever purchased, that now I’m looking at them, look a bit feral.
Despite excelling at leaving all my shit at the bottom of the stairs, I’m pleased to report all 4 items were carried up the stairs on Wednesday. So really, that’s a 48 hour turnaround, which is pretty good for a service that’s free!
Leaving washing in the machine FOR DAYS ON END
God I am good at this! So good, if there was some sort of ‘Who can leave their washing in the machine the longest’ competition, I would win HANDS DOWN.
Those towels were left in the machine overnight, after I completely forgot to hang them out on the line. They have since been through 2 more washes, so if nothing else, the towels in our house meet hospital grade antibacterial regulations!
Letting the washing pile up
Let me tell you, nothing lowers my heart rate faster than a laundry bench that is completely clear of dirty washing, but lately I have not being able to keep up with all the dirty clothes. What is it with kids getting dirty and insisting on everything being clean? Honestly, it’s right up there with needing to be fed every night! But I am pleased to report that since that photo was taken, the washing machine has been working hard AND I’ve been remembering to hang everything on the line, so the bench is almost clear. Almost.
Never being able to think of a 5th thing for the Friday Five!
I am SO good at this! Some weeks the 5 things fly out of my fingers and onto the keyboard and other weeks I stare at the computer screen for bloody ages, trying to think of a 5th thing. Today is one of those days!
I couldn’t think of another thing I’m really good at, although eating chocolate, not exercising, drinking gin, avoiding people I don’t walk to talk to while at the shops and not cooking dinner on a Friday night all sprung to mind, but they were all a bit too hard to take a photo of.
So let’s finish this week’s Friday Five off together. What’s something you’re really good at? GO….
