I don’t know about you but this holiday in Hawaii in going far too quickly for my liking.
We’re 9 days in and only have a few days left before we head home. While I don’t travel all that often, when I do, I love to immerse myself into all the country/state/area I’m visiting has to offer and learn about it’s culture, heritage and vast history.
Kidding.
I usually like to shop, sip on a cocktail and learn a little bit about what’s going on around me. Here’s 5 things I’ve learnt while on holiday in Oahu, Hawaii.
1. Coconut milk tastes disgusting when drunk from an actual coconut. Really, it does. But throw that stuff into a Skinny Lava Lava cocktail and you’ve got yourself a magnificant solution to the whole, “Holy crap that tastes like sh*t” problem.
Also, please note, that any cocktails with the word ‘coconut water’ in them are basically a juice cleanse, therefore they are healthy and drinking one means you are pretty much at a health retreat. You’re welcome.
2. Nobody, I repeat, nobody, gives a shit what you look like in your togs when you are on the beach so just get in the water already!
3. Hawaiian Holiday Hair is totally a thing. It’s big and it’s messy and it’s a borderline frizzy perm that our good friend Charmaine would be proud of.
It’s also a hair style that your husband says he loves because it reminds him of how your hair looked when you first met (click here to read that story!) but you can’t really work out if that’s a compliment or not, given that you met in 1994!
4. I need to work on my packing skills and as a result may or may not have slightly over packed.
5. The free wi-fi in the hotel room is SUPER SLOW, especially when everyone in the family is sucking the life out of it even though you’ve told them you need to get this blog post done and yet they still find it necessary to watch videos of motorised wake boards on Facebook (Scott), play games on their phone (Bailey) and watch some random family on You Tube (Sophie)!
So there we have it. The 5 things I’ve learnt while on holiday.
Have you learnt anything while on holidays? Does it involve big hair, packing tips or something else? Do tell!
