This is my second entry in the Kidspot Voices of 2014 Healtheries #snackosphere project.
I don’t know about you, but after school at our place can be a bit hectic. School bags are usually flung at the bottom of the stairs before getting changed and heading outside to feed the guinea pigs, check the letterbox and play with the neighbours (Sophie) or a huge amount of afternoon tea is consumed before doors are shut and the computer is fired up so that homework can begin (Bailey).
Fortunately for me, both Bailey and Sophie are old enough now to get their own afternoon tea, which leaves me enough time to sloth on the couch with a coffee start getting the never-ending dinner prep underway!
I’m always reminding the kids to make healthy choices when it comes to food and Sophie loves it when the pantry is stocked with packets of snack items that she can eat on the run.
A typical afternoon at our place sees Sophie grabbing a packet of whatever Healtheries product I’ve purchased during my weekly grocery shop, filling up her bottle of water and announcing, “I’m going outside” before opening the garage door and running outside.
Bailey on the other hand, sees afternoon tea as an opportunity to carb load like a marathon runner! He’ll happily munch away on a huge bowl of cereal at the kitchen bench before grabbing a packet of whatever looks like a carb and heading upstairs to his room to study (which of course is teenage talk for Skyping his mates!)
I’m more than happy for him to fuel his enormous teenage appetite with food that is healthy, tasty and convenient. Roast Chicken Rice Wheels by Healtheries are one of his favourite after school snacks and fortunately for him, they met my fairly strict healthy eating requirements perfectly!
What sort of things do your kids like to snack on after school? Do you have a teenager in the house that loves to carb load too?
This is my second entry in the Kidspot Voices of 2014 Healtheries #snackosphere project, using the prompt ‘After School.’
I chose to participate in this competition because I’ve been buying Healtheries products from Coles for years and they’re a brand I genuinely believe in. I was sent a box of Healtheries products as part of the competition, where all sorts of awesome prizes are up for grabs.
You can read my first post about incorporating Healtheries products into your child’s lunch box right here, while my wrap up of the Voices of 2014 launch party can be found here.
