I don’t know about you, but if there’s one thing I’m really good at, it’s making my weekly household budget stretch as far as it will possibly go.
One of my sneaky little tricks is to fling as many hair and beauty products as I can into my trolley when I’m doing the groceries OR add a few to my basket when I’m at the chemist. That way they’re part of the grocery bill and are a legitimate household expense. Clever huh!
Today I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite Beauty On A Budget finds that I’ve picked up or seen while out and about in the last couple of weeks.
Beauty On A Budget
1. Schwarzkopf Volume Powder $8.99
This little gem of a product gets thrown into my trolley on a regular basis. I use it everyday on my fine curly locks and would be lost without it!
It can be used on any hair type, straight or curly, and one bottle will last for up to 50 applications. For step-by-step instructions on how to use it, please read this post: How To Style Curly Hair
I purchase mine from either Coles or The Chemist Warehouse.
2. Revitanail Products* $14.95
I’ve used Revitanail strengthening products for several years (there’s info about Revitanail’s Nail Strengthener and Nourishing Oil in this post: Mother’s Day Giveaway) so I was excited to receive a selection of Revitanail’s new Triple Strength colour range and Whitening Glow to try.
The Triple Strength colour range is available in 5 colours and provides a lovely gloss-finish with a quick drying time. The Whitening Glow claims to provide instant smoothing and a whitening peptide to help brighten nails. One coat left my nails looking pretty much the same but with a nice glossy finish. Once two coats were applied, BAM! my nails looked whiter and brighter than they ever have.
Revitanail products are available at Priceline, Coles, Woolworths and selected pharmacies.
3. Thankyou Body Wash $8
The Thankyou Botanical Lime & Coriander Hand Wash and Botanical Mint & Spring Flowers Body Wash are firm favourites at our place.
With the products existing to fund life-changing hygiene and sanitation projects in developing nations, it kind of nice to think you’re doing something good whenever you purchase one.
Thankyou Body Care is available from Coles, Woolworths, IGA, Foodland, LaManna Direct and Chemmart Pharmacy.
4. Goodness Natural Beauty Lab*
A relative newcomer to the beauty market, Goodness Natural Beauty Lab comes to you from the clever folk behind well-known brands, Ecoya Home Fragrance and Trilogy Natural Products.
I was sent the Every Day Cream Cleanser ($16.95), Certified Organic Chia Seed Oil ($19.95) and Every Evening Cream ($19.95) to try. While organic chia seeds aren’t my kind of food to eat, the team at Goodness Natural Beauty Lab have done a fab job at squeezing the bejesus out of those little seeds to produce really great products!
The Every Day Cleanser lightweight and did a good job at removing my makeup at the end of the day. The Every Evening Cream was nice and thick, just how a night cream should be.
The Goodness Certified Organic Chia Seed Oil was lightweight and gave my dry skin a much-needed hit of hydration. There’s also a Every Week Face Scrub and an Every Morning Moisturiser available, which will be added to my basket next time I’m at the chemist.
The Goodness Natural Beauty Lab products can be found at all My Chemist and Chemist Warehouse stores and selected Woolworths stores nationwide (coming soon to Priceline)
5. Swisspers Make-Up Pads
To be honest, I have no idea how much these cost but I *think* they’re around the $5 mark. The reason I don’t know is because they’re the only product I use to remove eye make-up and nail polish , so they get flung in my trolley whenever stocks are low at home.
They’re made from 100% cotton and have a nice soft quilted surface which means they don’t leave any fibres behind on your skin or nails. I buy mine from Coles but they’re available at pretty much all major supermarkets and chemists.
Do you shop in the hair and beauty aisle at the supermarket or chemist too? Got a product you love? Share it with us in the comments section here or on the blog’s Facebook page!
