So after a 4 hour road trip from LA, we arrived in Las Vegas. It was hot, 43 degrees worth of hot, and Bailey was burning up in the back seat with high temps and a fairly hefty case of the shakes. I was beside myself with worry, so as soon as we checked in, I rang a local Medical Emergency Clinic who advised me to get Bailey there ASAP. Scott took him there and 2 hours later they were home with a diagnosis of a bronchial chest infection and a script for antibiotics that needed to be filled.
Bailey went to bed and Scott kindly offered to walk down to the local chemist and get the script filled. On his way out the door, Scott may have mentioned that thanks to the magic of Instagram, he’d seen that Shane Warne was in town and that he might need to swing by the bar at the Venetian hotel to have a beer with Warnie. I may have eye rolled out loud while suggesting he gets the script filled BEFORE embarking on some sort of past-cricketer stalking mission.
Long story short, Bailey hasn’t got out of bed since we got here two days ago, which means Scott and I have had to do some serious tag team action to see any of Vegas. Not that it’s bothered us too much as we’ve both been here before, and really, we just want Bailey to start feeling better asap!
So yesterday, Scott kindly offered to hang out in the hotel room with Bailey and suggested Sophie and I might like to go shopping. Um, well, ok. If we have to!
It’s safe to say we went fairly hard at Fashion Show (aka my favourite Las Vegas Mall) There were sales on everywhere, which may or may not have sent me and my credit card into overdrive!
The Body Shop had a fantastic Buy 3 Get 3 Free sale happening, so of course I had to take part in that offer! The staff there were SO friendly and didn’t bat an eyelid when Sophie decided she’d quite like to test all the body mists while I decided on which 6 products I desperately needed to purchase (FYI: I went for 3 products from The Body Shop’s Vitamin C range + a bottle of bubble bath and a couple of products from their Brazil Nut range which I’ve tried before and absolutely love!)
Justice had 60% off everything in store, so Sophie took advantage of that and spent her spending money that my parents kindly gave her on all sorts of retina burning clothing items.
And finally, Macy’s had a fabulous sale on and if you head to the Visitors Centre and flash your ID, they’ll give you a clever little card that gives you an additional 10% off all items in store! So I picked up a gorgeous winter blazer for the bargain price of US $31, a pair of shorts for $35 and a Value Pack of my favourite Shisedo eye cream, which came with other trial size freebies to try.
When we got back to the hotel, Bailey was fast asleep, so Scott took Sophie down to the pool, while I ran myself a bath and filled a very large glass to the brim with a Charmaine Sized Bottle of Booze I picked up from the fancy little Market Cafe conveniently located in the lobby of the hotel we’re staying at.
After I’d had a bath, I settled in for the evening with some serious multi tasking action. Yes, I actually managed to spent a bit of time on Facebook while sipping on a G&T. I know. So talented!
Please note the freshly painted nails. Something I don’t do often enough, but remember that fantastic Miracle Gel polish I found at Target last week? Well I managed to track it down here in Vegas too and treated myself to another shade of it. This one’s called Pink Up and I love it!
Today it’s Tuesday in Las Vegas and Bailey’s still not moving from the couch. So Scott did a Starbucks run this morning, before taking Sophie back downstairs to the pool for a couple of hours. I’m sitting in the hotel room, belting out this blog post while sipping on a very ordinary tasting Cafe Latte…
Excuse me, but since when is Charmaine spelt with an S? And what’s with Scott deciding to get on board the Charmaine Train?!
Ever been on a holiday with a sick child? Or perhaps you have a husband who thinks it’s HILARIOUS to tell the bloke at Starbucks your name is Charmaine? Which, I must admit, it kind of was!
