So remember a few weeks ago when I wrote a post about my Bucket List? Well Charmaine read it and wanted to leave a comment about what was on her bucket list, but she couldn’t work out how to comment. She sent me a text from her Nokia and let’s just say it was so bloody long that I told her I might as well put it on the blog as a guest post. So here we go with Charmaine’s Bucket List. Enjoy!
1. Bake A Cake From Scratch
I know Kirsten is right into all things baking, but seriously, who could be bothered with all that sifting and mixing? It looks so bloody time consuming and my twin girls, Mersaydees and Saturday love it when I whip up one of those fancy Better Crocker cake mixes. They take no time at all to mix and taste pretty good too, but lately I’ve been thinking I probably should try and make a cake from scratch.
I don’t even know what sort of cake I should make or where you even buy flour from, but the twins are turn 15 soon, so I might try and make a cake for their birthday. Kirsten mentioned something about some weird thing called Pinterest, where you can get lots of good ideas from, but I don’t understand that concept at all.
I mean, it takes bloody ages to get my computer started and then I have to wait for the dial up to kick in, all to access some sort of virtual pin board where complete randoms have pinned posh looking things onto it. By the time I’ve waited for all that to happen, I could’ve flicked through my Women’s Weekly Cake Book (got it as a baby shower present and haven’t touched it since) and bloody well made a cake!
2. Climb The Sydney Harbour Bridge
That has been a dream of mine and Barry’s since we first met. Barry tried doing the climb once, but had to turn back due to a lingering inner ear infection that affected his balance. The poor bugger was devo and still talks about the embarrassment of having to climb back down the stairs while everyone else was making their way to the top! I’m saving my pennies at the moment and hope to surprise Barry with a trip to Sydney (and Harbour Bridge climb) at Christmas.
Although he’s just sent me a text to say the Christmas work roster is out and it looks like he’ll only be home for 3 days before having to go back to the mines, so that’s going to throw a real spanner in the f*&king works!
3. Find A Decent Hairdresser
I mean how hard is it to find a good hairdresser that doesn’t want to attack your hair with a bloody GHD everytime you visit?! I can’t find one anywhere that knows how to look after my frizzy perm, so if you live in Brisbane and have any good contacts, can you fax their details to me? Thanks!
4. Learn How To Drink Wine
As you know, I’m a Bacardi Breezer girl through and through, but occasionally I get to go to Barry’s work dos (I don’t mean to brag, but he’s been nominated for Boiler Maker Of The Year three times in a row now) I don’t know why, but none of those big function centres ever seem to stock Bacardi Breezers, so it would be really helpful if I could lean how to throw back a glass of wine or two.
Plus I’ve seen The Real Housewives of Melbourne drink wine on TV and they always look deadset classy. I’d really love to look that classy one day.
5. Start A Blog
Since I’ve got to know Kirsten and have started reading her blog, I quite like the idea of having one of my own. Kirsten has been very helpful and told me the first thing I need to do is close my MySpace account and open a Facebook page instead, but she lost me at some weird thing called Twitter (how anyone can write stuff in 140 characters of less is beyond me) and don’t get me started about Instagram!
I don’t want to sound rude, but when Kirsten showed me her Instagram feed on her phone I was all “Why the hell would you take a photo of your coffee? Who wants to even see that? And what’s with all the food photos? Just eat your f*&king food already!” So maybe a blog isn’t for me after all? I might just hang out here from time to time instead. It would be a hell of a lot easier than having to take photos of my food all the time!
Thanks Charmaine (I think!) for visiting today. Great post. What do you think…should Charmaine guest post on a regular basis? Or would you like to see her start her own blog?!
