It’s been a while since I’ve done much baking, what with Operation Loose Pants happening and a fair bit of couch time occurring due to a pesky chest infection that was refusing to leave the building!
But yesterday I was feeling much better, so Sophie and I decided to make a batch of Chocolate Chip Muffins.
Like pretty much all of my recipes, these chocolate chip muffins take no time at all to make. They don’t require too many ingredients and chocolate chips aside, they’re quite low in sugar.
Sophie did most of the measuring, mixing and pouring when we made these muffins, so I reckon if a 9 year old can make them, anyone can!

Now the other day a friend asked me what I use as a backdrop for all of my foodie photos and did it cost a lot of money to set it up?
Um, that would be a no, because this is what I use as my backdrop for most of my food related photos!
A rather old dining room table that used to be mum and dads. They bought it years ago and when they did some renos a few years back, they gave it to my brother and sister-in-law, who used it for a while before giving it to us. So long story short, my ‘backdrop’ was free!
I know it looks a bit like 1989 called and they’d like their formal dining room back fancy in that photo, but in real life it’s covered in scratches and dents, wobbles whenever you pull out a chair and try to sit down at it and the chairs need a really good clean.
But it makes a great backdrop for my photos and up until now, no-one would ever know I just throw the baked goods on a $15 cake stand I picked up from Kmart and plonk it on the good old dining room table!
Once the *ahem* photo shoot is over, I put a lid on the cake stand, tell the kids and Scott they can finally hook into whatever it is I’ve made and put it on the kitchen bench for everyone to help themselves to.
See! There’s the chocolate chip muffins, nestled in between the Sodastream and the Nespresso. Mind you, since taking that photo at 9am this morning, there’s significantly less muffins left on the cake stand and the cook top has been scrubbed within an inch of it’s life.
So tell me, do you have a dining room table that wobbles when you try to sit at it? And do you like your chocolate chip muffins warm or cold?
