A couple of years ago I decided to throw a Christmas in July lunch and today I thought I’d share those Christmas in July ideas with you.
Now before you have a look at the photos, I probably should point out that a) I think my photography skills have improved somewhat since I took these shots back in 2012 and b) taking photos in the middle of the day is never a good idea! (Too many shadows and harsh light to deal with. Early morning and late afternoon are usually the best times for photo taking. Lots of soft light is crucial!)
So now that we have that little disclaimer out of the way, let’s take a look at time I went a little bit nuts and thought it would be a good idea to celebrate all things Christmas not once, but twice, in a calendar year!
Christmas in July Ideas
The Table Setting:
I kept things simple by choosing a white, red and silver colour scheme.
I also purchased a Vintage Rudolph Printable Set from The TomKat Studio which I had used for Sophie’s Christmas Themed Birthday party the year before (click here for all the party details, including an awesome Kit Kat Cake that was featured on Amy Atlas!) so I printed out another set of those and used them again, which finished the Christmas in July theme of nicely.
An easy centrepiece was created by filling a bowl with silver christmas baubles, wrapping some twine around a candle and attaching a printable to it.
The Children’s Table:
I added pops of colour at the children’s table and went in hard with the paper plates, cups and straws so that my afternoon wasn’t spent washing up!
The Menu:
I kept the menu really simple and threw a leg of lamb in the slow cooker while mum made the roast turkey. I did the roast vegetables using my never fail flour method, which you can watch live in this episode of Cooking With Kirsten.
Dessert was a help yourself arrangement, which the kids loved!
And there we have it! My Christmas in July Ideas.
Have you ever hosted a Christmas in July party? Got any ideas you’d like to share?
