Look, I won’t lie. When City Chic offered to send me some of their new activewear range to try, I panicked.
I mean for a start, it’s activewear and that would mean two things were about to happen.
- I was going to be wearing lycra, something I haven’t done in a very long time!
- There would be photographic evidence of my lycra wearing ways on the blog for all to see!
Lycra isn’t the most flattering of fabrics, especially when you’re a size 14 with a few curves thrown into the mix, but I decided to put my activewear fears aside and waited for the goodies from City Chic to arrive.
Turns out I had absolutely nothing to worry about!
Let’s have a look at each of the items I’m wearing, shall we?
City Chic 3/4 Sport Legging
The 3/4 Sport Legging* are a great fit. The high waistband means muffin top action is minimal (always a bonus!) and the fabric is nice and thick, giving great support to any areas that need it.
There’s also a couple of clever little additional features to the leggings including reflective tabs on the lower legs (great for any early morning or evening runners amongst us…obviously I don’t include myself in that group!)
and a zip up pocket on the back, which is the perfect place for putting your house keys/garage door remote/small change etc while you’re exercising.
City Chic Underwire Sports Bra
Ok, let’s talk sports bras for a minute. Hands up if, like me, you have great difficulty finding one that is supportive and holds everything in while you’re exercising?
I’ve tried just about every brand there is over the years in the seemingly never-ending quest to find the perfect supportive sports bra and so far I haven’t had much luck. So you can imagine my surprise when I put on City Chic’s Underwire Sports Bra* and not only was it a perfect fit, but it was really supportive and ridiculously comfortable!
City Chic Activewear Scoop Back T-Shirt
As for the Scoop Back T-Shirt*, it’s a very generous cut and as a result is too big and too long for me. But that’s nothing a little creative styling can’t fix!
I love the colour (it’s also available in grey and black) and the fabric has a gorgeous soft feel to it, but in hindsight I probably should’ve gone with a more fitted top like the Zip Front Tank Top or the Be Bold Tank.
The City Chic Activewear range is available in sizes XS – XXL (14 – 24)
I’m 165cm tall and I’m wearing an XS in the 3/4 Sport Legging and Scoop Back T-Shirt and a Size 14E in the Underwire Sports Bra, all of which can be found on the City Chic website by clicking on the bold links throughout this post.
Are you a fan of activewear? Have you checked out City Chic’s new activewear range? I’d love to know what you think of it!
