Country Road Fitted Denim Dress

On Sunday I celebrated my 43rd birthday (you can read about a few things I’ve learned since turning 40 in this post: 20 Things I’ve Learned In My 40’s) 

The morning was spent at home and as luck would have it, the birthday planets aligned and both the kids had places to be and things to do on Sunday afternoon.  So Guns and I headed down the road to a nearby restaurant for a late lunch and a celebratory drink.

I ordered a cocktail called Disappointment.  Because nothing says Happy Birthday like a big old glass of disappointment!

Seriously though, what was the person thinking when they came up with the name for that delicious tasting alcoholic beverage?  

Do you reckon that person went into a staff meeting with a clipboard full of ideas and told his workmates, ‘”Yeah, so I reckon we should name our cocktails after things that remind our customers of miserable times in their lives.  We could start with Disappointment.  And if that takes off we could have a whole range of miserable cocktails like Despair and Torment and Frustration! Espresso Martinis are SO 2015. Disappointment is where it’s at people!”

And all of the workmates were all, “You are so right!  How did we not think of this earlier?  Charmaine, fire up the Dell will you luv because we need to type up a new cocktail menu ASAP!”

Fitted Denim Dress from Country Road, Witchery shoes (a bargain picked up in the stocktake sales in January) and a birthday gift from the kids – a Rose Gold/Blush Leather watch from The Horse.

Let’s take a moment to discuss the dress.  

It’s fitted but not skin-tight, thanks to the 2% elastane that gives it just the right amount of stretch.  

The oversized pockets sit on the hips, which I would normally avoid (that area does not need any further bulk, thanks very much!) but in this dress the pockets magically sit flat, giving a flattering fit.
