So earlier this week, on Monday to be exact, we welcomed a temporary newcomer to our family.
Yes, our very own Elf On The Shelf arrived for 24 nights of Christmas mischief! She had a letter from Santa, which outlined all of the instructions (please name me, choose a shelf for me to sit on during the day etc) and a book, which had even more instructions.
Sophie was beside herself with excitement, “What should I call her?!” “Where should she live while she’s with us?” “How does it all actually work?!”
After reading the letter AND the book, Sophie decided to call the Elf On The Shelf, Pixie and informed us all that Pixie would be staying in her room for the duration of the Elf antics.
CREEPY ELF ON THE SHELF
But later that day, reality set in.
“Mum, Pixie is really creepy. She’s a creepy Elf On The Shelf. Her eyes won’t stop looking at me. And she’s got a weird smile. And I’m worried that she’s going to do something scary at night, you know, when she somehow comes alive. How does she come alive? Is Santa watching me right now? Why won’t her arms move? Does she have to stay in my room? Did I mention she’s really creepy?”
And I have to admit, I think Sophie might be right.
That Elf on the Shelf of ours does look a bit creepy!
So later that night, at exactly 9.30pm* when it was time to get cracking with the first night of EOTS duties, I decided that Pixie would be a funny Elf. Here’s what she got up to on her first night at our place:
* I know the exact time because I’ve put an alarm on my phone. This is so I don’t forget to do set up Creepy Elf On The Shelf Pixie’s latest mischievous trick. If Santa doesn’t generously reward me for this effort, I’ll be lodging a formal complaint!
I’ve got lots of other silly things planned for our little friend, Pixie, which I’ll keep you updated on here and over on Facebook.
