Last year when we visited LA, Scott took it upon himself to finish every meal he ordered.
Now if you’ve ever had the pleasure of eating in the good old US of A, you’ll know that the portion sizes are on the what I like to call ‘holy crap that’s enormous!’ So Scott did very well to complete his own personal food challenge.
He also managed to not gain a single kilo during that holiday, while I’m fairly sure I whacked on at least 3 kilos just by watching him eat so many calories at every meal. You can read all about his food challenge exploits in this post. We’ll wait for you to come back. I promise!
So last night we decided to head to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner.
There’s always a wait to get in – 40 mins this time – but the food is quite reasonably priced – $14.95 for a giant-sized burger – and the service is excellent.
It’s also the home of Scott’s original food challenge: The Grande Burrito.
Yes, that is a burrito as big as your arm.
It’s jam-packed full of chicken, rice, beans, tomatoes, cheese, capsicum and onion and comes with a side serve of guacamole and beans.
Last year Scott successfully managed to inhale one of those after he’d eaten a plate of chicken sliders (5 small chicken burgers)
This year he decided to give his arteries a break, giving the entree a miss and heading straight to the burrito.
I’m pleased to report he finished it, although it took some time to complete the task.
Afterwards he announced there would be no more food challenges during this trip. So that was a combination of disappointment and relief!
Of course every dinner needs dessert, so we ordered a slice of S’mores Chocolate Cheesecake to go, which was so delicious and so rich that the 4 of us couldn’t finish it!
