Last week we celebrated Bailey’s birthday and in a unprecidented move, I did not bake a cake. I KNOW. I was just as shocked by that one as you are.
Bailey had requested a chocolate cake, so I was all set to make this one: Delicious Chocolate Cake but after a day of podcasting with Emily from Have a Laugh on Me, I completely ran out of time!
So, on my way to pick the birthday boy and his sister up from school I did a mad dash to the supermarket where I put my creative skills to good use and came up with the easiest cake hack ever. Today I’m going to share it with you.
Easiest Cake Hack Ever
Here’s what you’ll need:
Step One:
Remove the store-bought mud cake you picked up from Woollies for 6 bucks from its packaging, taking the paper wrapping it’s also in with it. (Everybody knows home bakers don’t wrap their baked goods in paper – removing this will totally make it look like you whipped that cake up yourself!)
Place the cake on a fancy looking cake stand and remove the decorative white chocolate from the top of the cake. Eat and enjoy. (Everybody knows that calories on a cake don’t cake. Also calories don’t count when nobody is watching. It will be our little secret.)
Step Two:
Pour your chocolate decorations of choice (in this case it was M&M’s) into a bowl and gently press onto the top of the cake. If time permits or you are a bit of a neat freak, turn all the M&M’s over so none of the M’s are showing.
Step Three:
Eat any left over decorations while sticking the number 15 candles into the cake. Wonder where those last 15 years have gone, before catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and realise they’ve gone straight to the delicate area around your eyes beauticians keeps banging on about.
Step Four:
Add remaining candles just as Happy Birthday is about to be sung. Dazzle and delight guests with the easiest cake hack ever and enjoy a slice with ice cream, cream or both!
