This is my third and final post for the My Family Lens Challenge and today I thought I’d share some of my favourite photos I’ve taken using the Olympus OM-D E-M10 during the past three months.
Capturing The Moments:
It can be a bit tricky to get photos of Bailey. He’s 13 and isn’t a fan of getting his photo taken, which I totally understand, but when I showed him the very cool inbuilt Grainy Film Art Filter on the camera, he was more than willing to get a few snaps taken while we were at the park last weekend. And yes, that’s Scott (and Sophie) on the swings in the background!
Sophie, on the other hand, is more than happy to get her photo taken. I took this action shot using the inbuilt Sport Scene, which allows you to shoot sequentially up to a speed of nine frames per second. I love how this image has captured Soph’s sheer delight at beating her dad and brother in a running race AND it’s in focus!
Once we were home from the park, I uploaded it to my phone using the camera’s very clever inbuilt WiFi system. I then used the Olympus OI Share Ap to run the image through a Pop Art Filter and share it with everyone on Instagram and Facebook. So clever!
While we’re talking inbuilt Art Filters, I think the Key Line is probably one of my favourites:
And the Dramatic Tone definitely lives up to it’s name!:
If filters aren’t your thing, don’t worry, as the OM-D E-M10 captures the most beautiful, bright, high quality images, even on good old Auto setting!:
Using The Camera At Night:
Taking photos at night on the OM-D E-M10 is a breeze. Just use the Night Portrait Scene setting and you’re good to go!
Food Photography:
Taking photos of your food (yes, that’s a thing and it’s totally normal!) is also really easy, especially with the Night Portrait Scene setting:
One of my favourite features of the OM-D E-M10 is the Blurred Background. It’s fantastic for taking close up of food photos and is so easy to use. You simply select ‘blurred background’ from the camera’s high res touch screen, select the level of blurred background you would like and shoot!
Portability:
The compact size of the camera also allows for excellent portability when you’re out and about. It fits perfectly in my hand bag and the sophisticated retro look of the camera means nobody bats an eyelid when you whip it out of your handbag at a restaurant to take a photo of your dessert!
The camera’s size and portability also means you can take photos of your children at school events that capture the moment they’re waiting patiently to perform on stage, all without embarrassing them in front of their friends!
Thank you so much to the lovely people at Olympus and Kidspot for allowing me to be a part of the My Family Lens Challenge. I have absolutely loved using the OM-D E-M10 and will miss it desperately when the time comes to give it back!
If you’d like to have a look at other photos I’ve taken using the Olympus OM-D E-M10 and/or find out more information about the camera, head to my Memories of Disneyland post and Scott’s Birthday Celebration post.
I’ve also been using the camera to take photos for all my blog posts while I’ve been fortunate enough to have it lent to me. While these posts aren’t part of the competition, they definitely show the versatility and quality of the camera and are well worth having a look at.
