I don’t know about you but when I’m packing for a holiday, I’m not exactly a minimalist when it comes to makeup.
I’ll happily pack travel size tubes of cleanser and toothpaste, but I do find it difficult to downsize the lipgloss situation.
I pretty much throw all the makeup things into my beauty bag and then wonder why my suitcase is always so heavy!
However on our recent trip to Hawaii I finally managed to nail a quick and easy, holiday friendly makeup routine.
I like to call it my five minute holiday face.
the five minute face
Now that I’m home and the reality of not being able to saunter down to the beach everyday has set in, I’m calling it The Five Minute Face.
Here’s how it’s done.
- Sunscreen – I make sure it’s the first thing I put on and then it’s done.
- Skin Boss GET UP AND GLOW – available online from July 7. I use this luxurious blend of all natural oils every morning. It leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and works well as a primer under makeup. Simply apply and let it absorb into the skin slightly before applying your favourite foundation, BB cream or powder*
- Garnier BB cream – When I’m at home I usually wear foundation for a bit more coverage, but a hot climate calls for a lighter look and feel. A BB cream is the perfect solution and this one adjusts to your own skin tone when you apply it. That means there’s no mucking around with trying to figure out if your shade is light, medium or this is all too hard, I give up when you’re purchasing it. Want more info about BB creams? Find it right here.
- Mascara, skip the eyeshadow.
- Rimmel bronzer, blush, highlighter compact. This little compact has been one of my favourite purchases in a long time. It’s cheap and all three products work well together to give your cheeks a gorgeous sun-kissed glow.
- A quick dust of powder to eliminate any excess shine – I use Jane Iredale and a brush for a natural, light look.
- A swipe of lipgloss (not shown) and BAM! your 5 minute face is done.
*full disclosure: Skin Boss is my own line of all natural face oils. Visit www.skinboss.com.au for more information.
