If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that Scott has taken it upon himself to embark on a artery hardening food challenge while we’re here in the US. There’s even a hashtag, #scottvsamerica – check it out for all the food related pics.
Now I should point out that since Bailey has been sick we haven’t eaten out much, which has definitely slowed down the whole #scottvsamerica food challenge thing.
However there’s still more than enough photographic evidence for a Friday Five. So here we go with all the details of Scott’s Food Challenge. Enjoy!
The Friday Five: #scottvsamerica edition
Meal One: The Cheesecake Factory, Anaheim
Entree was a plate of fried chicken sliders.
So that was entrée done and before we knew it, Scott’s main was on the table.
Even the waiter wished him good luck with finishing this one – A Grande Burrito, the size of Scott’s arm!
Meal Two: Breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe, Anaheim
Scott casually ordered the French Toast and this is what arrived at the table:
Yep, that would be one serve of French Toast with two fried eggs, a side of bacon and a fruit cup.
Because everybody knows that a toddler sized portion of fruit is an excellent way of adding fibre to your diet!
Meal Three: Road Trip To Vegas
Scott loves the drive from LA to Vegas.
He’s done it many times over the years and loves nothing more than cranking up the 80’s tunes on the radio, winding down the window and watching the desert pass by.
Except this time there was no time for desert watching because I’d set up a DIY Bagel Station in the enormous front section of our ridiculously large hire car.
So in between singing along to Bon Jovi and Whitesnake, Scott was living up to his #scottvsamerica food challenge and inhaling not one, not two but three bagels that I had lovingly smothered in cream cheese and raspberry jam for him.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the bagel inhalation was quickly followed up with some serious Lays chip action….
Meal Four: Snack Plates at Bar Vdara, Las Vegas.
By Tuesday, Bailey was finally starting to feel better so we all headed downstairs to the bar for a couple of drinks and a light meal.
Scott ordered the sliders, chicken skewers and a side of fries for us all to share.
Which we totally would have, if we could get our hands on any of it!
Sophie, who sensibly ordered her own bowl of fries, suggested we should order Churros for dessert.
Scott’s response? (Said in his best Faux American Drawl) “You don’t have to ask me twice! Order up hon!”
Meal Five: Cabo Wabo, Las Vegas
Wednesday was our last night in Vegas, so we hit the strip for some dinner.
Scott went in hard with the final #scottvsamerica food challenge and ordered the Beef Enchiladas.
I’m pleased to report that he didn’t let the team down and managed to finish the entire meal…
And for those of you wondering exactly where all of those calories have gone, here’s a photo I took of Scott after he’d got off the Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios last week…
FFS! I feel like I’ve gained 3 kilos just by writing this blog post.
Meanwhile, Scott’s still wearing the same size jeans he wore in high school.
I don’t know about you, but the only thing that still fits me from high school is my earrings!
And that’s another Friday Five done and dusted. We’re up in the sky as you’re reading this, on our way home from a fantastic family holiday.
Thanks so much to all of you who have left such lovely comments on the photos I’ve no doubt bored you senseless with on Instagram and Facebook. It’s been great sharing everything with you all xox
