I think we can all agree that Guns excels at being quite the helper in the kitchen, although just to be sure we probably should watch last week’s Cooking With Kirsten episode, don’t you think?

So as I was saying, based on that and all the other helpful things Guns has been doing in previous Cooking With Kirsten episodes, I think it’s safe to say he goes alright in the kitchen.
Like all of us, every now and again he does make a slight cooking slip up, like the time I asked him to chop up a zucchini and throw it in the pot of boiling water for a few minutes so we could have some veg with our steak and spuds.
Turns out Guns wasn’t as familiar with vegetables as I thought and that night we sat down to a meal of steak, potato and boiled cucumber!
Then there was the time he sent the kids off to school with a parmesan cheese sandwich each in the lunch boxes. We still laugh about that one, some four years later.
But if there’s one thing Guns IS really good at, it’s working hard in the garden. For the past few weeks he’s been flat-out finishing off the area around our pool and down the side of the house where the laundry is. He’s shovelled barrow loads of dirt and pebbles and laid metres of turf, all without any help.
I of course, have provided cold drinks (for Guns) and shirtless photos (of Guns) for Instagram, for that is where my outdoor talents lie.
Gardening With Guns
Now on Sunday afternoon, Guns came inside and said he had a surprise for me. This was also followed up with the words, “I think it’s probably also a blog post” which had me intrigued.
He took me outside and showed me a little herb garden that he had planted. There were various herbs planted that, in the unusual event that I will be able to actually keep them alive, will be suitable for cooking with.
There was also a rather odd-looking plant and I asked Guns what that one was.
“Oh, that’s the blog post one” he laughed. “I wanted to plant you some mint, so that when you’re all better and able to drink fizzy things again I can make you Mojitos and I thought that’s what I bought but…”
“OMG what is it?” I asked
“It’s stevia!” was the reply
“Oh FFS. The bloody Food Nazi will LOVE that! What are we going to do with stevia?” I laughed
“Take some photos, blog about it and then rip it out?” Guns suggested
“Best idea you’ve had all day.”
Are you a fan of stevia? Ever eaten a parmesan cheese sandwich? Craving a Mojito? Tell me all the things!
