A while I ago I walked into one of my favourite homeware stores (Earthborn at Carindale, for those who might be interested) and was met by one of my all time favourite greetings:
“Hi! Nice to see you here again* Just letting you know that everything in the store is 50% off today!”
*Scott, if you’re reading this, the lovely staff at that particular store don’t actually say that to me. I threw it in there for comedy purposes only^^
^^may or may not be true
So after putting a solid 15-20 minutes in of browsing their half price shelves, I decided on this little beauty
I lugged it out of the shopping centre, gently put it in the back of my car and went back inside to do some more damage drove home, all the while thinking about where I was actually going to put it.
I eventually decided on a little corner near our dining room table and wondered how long it would take Scott to notice it.
Turns out, it took him almost 5 days, which to be honest, was a little bit longer than I expected, given that it was right beside the table we eat dinner at every night!
Anyway, after I’d suggested there might be a new purchase somewhere nearby during dinner on day 5, Scott looked around and said, “Oh yeah. That big blue and white thing is new. And who exactly are we keeping in there?”
In between laughs (from the kids) and eye rolls (from me) I informed him that it wasn’t an urn, but something called a Ginger Jar.
“Call me crazy, but that’s a lot of ginger” was Scott’s reply.
Cue more laughing (from all of us this time) with a sigh chaser (from me), before Scott piped up with, “If nothing else, my ability to not notice things and then think we might be keeping Great Aunty Someone-or-Other in a ginger jar urn thing will make a great blog post!”
Will it though? I’m not so sure ๐
How long does it take your other half to notice things? Are you a fan of the Ginger Jar? Do tell!
