I hope you’re sitting down while you’re reading this, because what I’m about to say will probably shock you to the core.
I mean it’s definitely no secret that I quite like the occasional drop of champers and rolling a G&T on a Friday night is without a doubt my preferred way to celebrate Fizzy Friday!
However lately I haven’t exactly been feeling the love of all things alcohol related, particularly the next day. I mean I used to be able to enjoy a couple of glasses of fizz and wake up the next day ready to take on the world, but in the last 12 months or so, two or three glasses of the good stuff has left me feeling less than satisfactory in the morning.
It’s a less than ideal situation for someone who loves nothing more than entertaining with a glass of bubbly in her hand!
However I didn’t drink on New Years Eve and kicked 2015 off in grand style, feeling as fresh as a daisy and I have to say, it was a feeling I loved! As a result, I announced to anyone who would listen Scott that I was going to give up drinking for all of January.
But last night Chip Boy and his wife and kids came over for a BBQ and somehow two glasses of bubbly and a sip of a cocktail called An Old Fashioned slid down my throat:
And this morning, after consuming all of 2.5 drinks last night, I’ve woken up feeling like crap.
So that’s it. I’m done.
Life is too short to be feeling dusty after a couple of drinks, so I’m going to give it up. Or at least put myself on a very strict One Drink Only Policy, should the need arise.
I also thought about eating nothing but raw foods for a while and even contemplated giving up online shopping, but then I realised that would basically make me a Gluten Free Amish Paleo Vegan who may or may not be going through some sort of mid life crisis, so I decided against those two ideas!
Do you drink booze? Does it make you feel like crap the next day? Or are you a mineral water type of guy/gal and wake up ready to power walk your way through the day? Either way, I’d love to know!
