Remember this post earlier in the week, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, where Guns and I went to IKEA for a new desk?
Which FYI, isn’t as boring as it sounds – honestly! Have a read of the post. The bit about balls will give you a good laugh, I promise.
Well the desk is put together, the office is tidy and I’ve styled it to within an inch of its life. Tomorrow it will be back to its usual messy self, but for now it’s all ready to go.
So welcome to my home office reveal! Won’t you come on in?
Home Office Reveal – The Desk
The desk is part of the LIATORP range from IKEA. Unlike the sideboard/buffet behind her, Guns found it very easy to put together and did so in under 45 minutes.
I wasn’t sure about having a desk in the middle of the room at first, especially with the cord situation happening. It’s currently running to a power point on the back wall, but Guns is going to work his DIY magic. Soon the cord will be fitted inside the desk and running under the carpet towards the power point, which will finish the office off nicely.
The Sideboard
I purchased the HEMNES sideboard last year when I was setting up my online print shop. You can read about that, and see photos of what my office used to look like, in this post: Home Office Ideas.
It originally came with black handles but I replaced them with some lovely pastel blue and gold ones I picked up on the cheap from Anthropologie a while ago.
I did think about getting the desk that matched this buffet, but it was finished as nicely as the LIATORP, particularly at the front, which is something to think about if you’re planning on placing your desk in the middle of a room.
The Details
I ditched my ugly black office chair on wheels and replaced it with one of the chairs from our dining room table.
I’m not great at keeping the top of my desk tidy and usually by the end of the day it’s full of paperwork, notes and various other random items. So I purchased myself that little rattan tray in the hope that by putting my pens, pencils and other bits and pieces in there, my desk will remain tidy.
The storage under the desk has also helped enormously with keeping things neat and tidy as previously my desk didn’t have any.
The Main Players
IKEA LIATORP Desk $499
Lucan Dining Chair, Early Settler Furniture $249
The Accessories
Rattan tray from the shop at Stephanie’s Vintage Day Spa, ‘K’ mug from Big W, blue & white ginger jar from Hamptons Style, notebook and diary from Kikki K, pen from Officeworks, glasses from Specsavers, white dipped stool from Kmart (kids section), pot plant holder from IKEA, indoor plant from Bunnings, all prints designed by me and available for purchase from The Shop except for the gorgeous love heart. That was a gift from Sophie, which she made herself. White storage unit on top of sideboard from Officeworks (part of the Martha Stewart range). Candle a gift from a very thoughtful friend. Books were gifts to myself and frame is from Laura Ashley. Phew! I think that’s everything!
Finally, all items in this post was purchased over time using my own funds. If I have been paid in any way, shape or form for an item or product to appear in one of my blog posts or Instagram photos, I will always disclose that information to you. Nothing makes me eye roll harder than bloggers who don’t!
