I don’t know about you but I love a good wedding. They’re always so much fun and you literally can feel the love in the room.
Unless you attend a beach wedding. Then you literally feel a lot of sand between your toes and may or may not have issues with your hair sticking to your lip gloss due to those pesky onshore winds!
Yesterday, over on the blog’s Facebook page, I randomly asked what everyone’s wedding song was. There were some crackers in there (Hot Chilli Woman by Noiseworks! Can you imagine how much fun THAT wedding would’ve been?!) and some beautiful love songs (acoustic version of Beyonce’s Halo? Please pass the tissues…I think I have something in my eye.)
Our wedding song/first dance was Imaginary Girl by Hunters and Collectors. I really wanted Love Is All Around (you know, from the film Four Weddings and A Funeral? Don’t judge…It was 1997 after all!) but Scott’s vote for the song he whacked in the CD player on the night we met won out.
I guess I should be grateful he didn’t go all Barry White on me, because that could’ve made for one very awkward first dance!
Anyway, all that talk about wedding songs got me wondering how long everyone’s been married for. It’ll be 18 years for Scott & I this September. Yep, we were both 24 when we got hitched. So young!
My dress was MASSIVE. So massive that the first thing Dad said when he saw me in it was, “How are we going to both fit down the aisle?!” Which, to be fair, was a very good question! We managed somehow (I can’t be sure, but I think Dad might’ve been forced to walk me down on the aisle on a bit of a lean) and in amongst tulip bouquets bigger than my head and enough tulle to open my own fabric store, Scott & I said I do!
Ok, so now it’s over to you. How many years of wedded bliss have you racked up so far? And did you get married in a meringue?
