I don’t know about you, but I’ve lived in a few houses in my time. 23 in fact. 14 growing up, with the remaining 9 happening as an adult.
People are always surprised by that number, but to me it’s totally normal to live in a house for a year or two before flicking it and moving onto the next project.
Next week, after being in our current house for the lengthy time of 4 years and 10 months (5 years is our record!), we’re on the move again. It’ll be house number 24 for me and house number 8 for Scott. So if nothing else in life, I know how to move house.
Yep, I can pack boxes like some sort of packing ninja, while Scott can lift those firmly packed boxes like a professional removalist. If there was some sort of reality show for packing and moving house, I’m fairly sure we’d nail it.
Based on this fairly extensive moving house experience, I was all set to write a post about how to pack boxes, but then I thought, BORING. Because really, there’s no trick to it.
You’ve just got to wrap anything breakable in loads of newspaper or bubble wrap, make sure your boxes are labelled so you know which room to put them in when you get to your new place (80’s glam sharpies definitely help ease the pain of that tedious task) and invest in a rather large amount of wine/chocolate/whatevs to get you through the moving process!
So instead of reading about how to move house, let’s discuss how many houses we’ve lived in. And why don’t we throw countries and cities into the mix too? Partly because it’s a bit more interesting than learning how to pack a box, but mostly because I’m nothing if not nosey!
