Ever wondered how to declutter your wallet? Today Kirsten and co. shows you how!
After coming home from Problogger and setting myself some pretty big blogging goals for the next 12 months, I thought about writing an ebook.
It was a thought that lasted for approximately 3.5 minutes, mostly because I couldn’t come up with anything to fill an ebook with except recipes or random stories and they’re already here on the blog, so who would want to faff around with downloading that when they can just do a quick search on the blog and find it all here in the first place?!
But I am quite good at organising things and I’m an expert at decluttering ALL THE THINGS, so it struck me. I’ll write an ebook on how to organise and declutter things! Yep, that’s what I’ll do!
I’ll make it into some sort of 10 day challenge thing, because who has time for challenges that go for a month (not me, that’s for sure) and by the end of 10 days our tupperware drawers will be so neat and our pantries will be so decluttered of excess bottles of dried herbs that we haven’t used for YEARS, we’ll all be high-fiving each other and wondering how on earth we coped 10 days ago when we couldn’t find that bloody tupperware lid ANYWHERE.
But then I realised how long it would take me to actually write and design an ebook. And that I might actually have to charge people to download the ebook, you know, to cover the cost of my time, and that made me feel a bit weird, because I’m used to writing things like that for nothing but laughs, and really, what is actually funny about tidying your pantry?
I’ll answer that for you: NOTHING!
So today I give the one funny idea I came up with that was going to be an ebook, but thanks to my unique ability to not be bothered writing one, is now a blog post. You’re welcome!
How To Declutter Your Wallet:
1. Buy Something You Don’t Need
I find ducking into Kmart or Target helps with this enormously with this one. Honestly, a quick run through their aisles and your wallet will be at least $20 lighter and your trolley will be 50% fuller of various household items that you don’t necessarily need but definitely have to have!
2. Get Rid Of All Your Loyalty Cards
I threw this one in for comedy purposes only. AS IF I would ever recommend you do such a thing! Although I must admit, I do keep my loyalty cards in a separate little wallet in my handbag because they do clog up my retina burning hot pink number up there in the photo fairly quickly. But keep in mind shopping is my cardio, so I do have a fairly extensive collection of loyalty cards!
There are apps out there that you can use to store your loyalty card details on but to be honest, I’m a bit old school and quite like having the cards in my bag. Plus I usually have all sorts of problems whenever I do a software update on my iPhone and I think it would be worst fear to see all of those cards disappear from my phone. So for me, carrying them works. If you’ve got a better solution, feel free to let me know in the comments section.
3. Shop Online
Because you’ll only need a credit card or a paypal account. No wallet required! How’s that for an instant declutter?!
4. Buy A Bigger Wallet
It’s always a sensible plan to buy bigger, especially if you’re a bit of a hoarder. Look for one that has LOTS of card holder thingys and if you’re out shopping and can’t make a decision, just ask me for advice. I’m always happy to help other people spend their money!
5. Tell Your Kids They Can Have Tuckshop For Lunch
Nothing will declutter your wallet faster than forking over coin for tuckshop. Seriously, on the days I can’t be bothered throwing a few things into the kid’s lunch boxes, I swear it costs me the best part of 20 bucks to send them off to school with a tuckshop order each! Needless to say they don’t have it very often but when they do, I’m fairly certain they’re sitting down to some sort of 3 course degustation menu served to them by butlers.
How do you feel about ebooks? Do you own a wallet? Is it retina burning hot pink? Or a more sensible subdued colour? Tell me everything!
