These Christmas holidays, Scott (or Guns as he’s affectionately known as over on Instagram) has decided to teach himself how to cook. Or more specifically, BBQ.
Despite being able to whip up delicious meals whenever the need arises around here, Scott doesn’t really like cooking and avoids it whenever possible. However in the last week he’s outdone himself in the cooking department and I have to say, it’s been more than a little bit fabulous to have a week off from cooking dinner!
Here’s what he’s made so far:
While all the meals were completely delicious, I was blown away by the hot chips Scott made. OMG, they tasted amazing! So amazing that the recipe is too good not to share.
How To Make Hot Chips At Home:
Step One: Peel the spuds. Scott recommends buying large potatoes as this will make the slicing easier.
Step Two: Slice the potatoes into one cm thick slices
Step Three: Place sliced potato into a pot of boiling water and boil for 8 minutes or one stubby of beer. Depending on what time of the day it is.
Step Four: Drain the potato and shake gently in the colander. This will make the hot chips crunchy.
Step Five: Add a couple of tablespoons of olive or vegetable oil to the potatoes and sprinkle with salt.
Step Six: Spread the potatoes out onto a lined baking tray/dish and bake in a hot oven for one hour*, turning 2-3 times.
*we’ve got a really slow oven, so it’s probably best to check your chips after 1/2 an hour and then again at the 45 minute mark. Once they’re golden brown, they’re ready!
And that’s it! Hot chips at home, ready to go in six easy steps, which are even easier when you don’t actually have to make them yourself!
Who does the cooking at your place? You or somebody else? And are you now craving homemade hot chips, or is that just me?!
