Recently a reader from NZ got in touch with me (hi Sandra!) and asked how I store my Typo light box letters. I was a bit embarrassed to admit that they were flung in a box with a rubber band holding them together!
But then I remembered an awesome idea my cousin, Emma, showed me a while ago, which I’ve finally got around to doing myself.
FYI: Since writing this post in March 2015, Kmart has released it’s own light box and this quick and easy way of storing the letters will work for any brand of light box (yay!)
How To Store Typo Light Box Letters
Step One: Buy A Business Card Holder
I picked mine up from Officeworks. There were heaps to choose from, ranging in price from $4 through to $20. Naturally I chose a hot pink one ($9) because life is too short for dull things!
Step Two: Remove The Light Box Letters From Those Pesky Plastic Covers & Insert Into Your Business Card Holder
There’s a couple of things to remember during this step. Firstly, if you put them in the business card holder in alphabetical order, it’ll make it much easier to quickly find the correct letters next time you want to change the saying on your Typo Light Box.
Secondly, if, like me, you’ve purchased an additional set of letters, you’ll need to slip no more than 3 letters into one section of your business card holder. If you jam anymore than 3 letters in, you won’t be able to close the business card holder when you’re done and you’ll need to start all over again (trust me on that one!)
Step Three: Stand Back And Admire Your Cleverness!
I mean, really. How clever are you?! Your Typo Light Box letters are now all safely stored in one easy to use cute little book. Hooray!
Now before you go, can you do me a favour? Next time you’re in your local Typo store, can you keep an eye out for this photo?
Apparently it’s going to be used on an in-store sign with my Instagram handle on it (@kirstenandco) I’m not sure when it’ll be on display, but if you happen to come across it, I’d love to know about it!
Do you have a Typo or Kmart Light Box? How do you store your letters?
