And just like that our 20th wedding anniversary celebrations are done and dusted.
The celebrating kicked off on the day of our wedding anniversary – Thursday 7 September 2017.
After the school runs were done I spent the day packing Skin Boss orders and trying on my wedding dress.
I mean, what else would you do with a spare hour of your time?
Doesn’t everyone haul their 20-year-old wedding dress from the shelf it’s sitting on and marvel at the 4,397 metres of silk organza that was used to create possibly the most enormous wedding skirt there every was?
And then take an outfit photo of it, while contemplating doing the afternoon school run in it? Or am I the only one?….

Meanwhile, Scott was at work. He was then held up at work (don’t ask) which meant I had to leap into the car and do the fourth school run of the day – at 5.30pm.
Scott finally arrived home, we rustled up left overs for dinner, he cracked a beer, I had my usual – water, hold the ice – before we both plonked our butts on the couch for the evening.

Friday
I’ve decided that Fresh Hair Friday is now a thing. At least until the hot weather hits. Then it probably won’t be an option.
Mainly because I’m one of those rare women over 40 who likes to swim with her whole head under the water. There’s no head above the water while doing a delicate looking arm stroke for me.
Nope, I’m more of a dive under the water because I have no upper body strength to do anything delicate in the water type of girl.
So on Friday I treated myself to a blow dry and I think I’ll do it again this week too.

When I arrived home, a new timber bar table and bar stools we’d bought a couple of weeks ago arrived.
Completely flat packed. You can imagine how long it took me to put that together.
Saturday
Approximately one coffee, two loads of washing and a quick mop of the kitchen floor. That’s how long.
Scott does all the heavy lifting around here, so he spent Saturday morning putting the furniture together.
It took him roughly 1.5 hours and three “I can’t believe this came flat packed” with heavy sighing chasers.
He then gave the back deck a full clean, filled the fridges with beer and champers and plugged the gorgeous party lights in that he’d strung up the week before.
Party lights are from Bunnings. 20 lights per box, 5 boxes purchased. Scott hung 2mm stainless steel braided wire first, then attached the lights using cable ties. They look so pretty, we’re keeping them up!
I did a grocery run for last minute grazing table supplies, put the grazing table together and BAM! We were anniversary party ready.

Saturday night
Our guests arrived from 7pm onwards with the last leaving at 3am.
It was SUCH a good night. So good, I hardly took any photos!
The champagne flowed and it was so lovely to have our beautiful friends and family join us to celebrate 20 happy years.
And happy they have been.
I met Scott way back in 1994 and he has made me laugh every day since.
He is an amazing man, an incredible dad and my best friend.
He is the one – and the only – person in my life I can rely on to be there for me, no matter what.
During the last two years especially, Scott has been by my side every step of the way.
Telling me it will be okay, that I’ll be okay, that we’re okay.
That we’re a team and we’re in this together.
Team Smith.
It’s the best team I’ve ever been a member of.
