Yesterday I ducked up to the shops to hit the mid season sales run some errands and noticed something really odd. Christmas decorations have started to make their way onto the shelves!
Now being the regular shopper that I am, I first noticed a random shelf of decorations appear out of nowhere in one large department store last month, while another had its full blown Christmas Shoppe all set up and ready to go. In August.
Fast forward a month and the other large department store has launched it’s Christmas Shop. Even our local florist has got in on the act, putting up a tree in their shop, complete with a sign that says “Christmas. It’s on it’s way.”
I can also remember Sophie asking me this time last year if we could put the Christmas tree up because “there’s trees up in all of the shops and we don’t want to hurt Santa’s feelings by not putting ours up too.”
Which, when you’re 9, is probably a fair point. Although I do think Santa will be more than fine with us waiting for, oh I don’t know, the 2014 school year to end before we go whacking any sort of Christmas decorations up!

One of the many Christmas posts I belted out last year! Like to know how to whip up an Advent Calendar in September? Click here for all the details!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas, but I also love Spring and wouldn’t mind getting most of Term 4 out of the way before having to even start thinking about bossing Scott around politely asking Scott to put the Christmas lights up.
Stuck for Christmas wrapping ideas in September? This post will sort you out!
So tell me, when do you put your Christmas tree up? December 1st or September 1st?!
