Is it just me, or does it feel like it’s been ages since we’ve had a chat? How about we catch up on what’s been going on in each other’s lives? I’ll go first if you like and then you can tell me what’s new with you. Deal? Great, let’s get our chat on!
Visitors and Meetings
Last week my good friend Miss Chardy flew into Brisbane and spent a night with us at Chateau K&Co, before heading off to surprise her son.
Chards lives in the middle of nowhere – well that’s not entirely true, it is somewhere. The Northern Territory to be exact, but to give you an idea of how remote Miss Chardy’s life is, it took her the best part of two days to get to from her place to our place.
Obviously a soothing refreshment was required by the time she arrived, so we plonked ourselves on the couch while Scott whipped up Miss Chardy’s cocktail of choice – a Japanese Slipper.
The next day I had a meeting scheduled with Nicole from The Builder’s Wife. I asked Chards if she’d like to come along, to which she replied, “OMG I would LOVE to!” quicker than Scott could say, “Did I just hear someone call their drink a Japanese Slapper?”
Over a delicious breakfast we discussed all things blogging before heading outside to take a selfie. A lovely lady was walking past and saw us smiling at the flip down screen on my camera – read all the details about that awesome feature here – and asked if we would like her to take the photo. We all looked at each other and said, “Thank you but we’ve nailed it already!”
I did brighten the pic up a bit when I got home but the sparkle in our eyes are the real deal. There’s nothing better than getting together with fabulous friends, is there?
Pop, Fizz, Chic
Speaking of fabulous friends, the next Kirsten and co. charity event, Pop, Fizz, Chic is now sold out! HOORAY!!
If you’re coming along, get excited! I’ve got so many fun things planned for you, including some fabulous prizes. You can find all the details of what has been so very generously donated here.
Someone asked me the other day why I called this event Pop, Fizz, Chic.
At the end of the last event, Coffee With Kirsten, a few guests suggested next time around I should host and event at a bar and call it ‘Champagne with Kirsten’. I loved that idea but didn’t want to make it all about me. So I took my name out of the mix and headed to my number one source of inspiration, Pinterest.
It was there, while I was scrolling through endless images that I stumbled upon a Kate Spade inspired Pop, Fizz, Clink print. “That’s it!” I may have squealed from the couch to a slightly startled husband who was sitting beside me, watching another episode of Suits.
“I’ve found the name for my next event! Pop, Fizz, Chic! It makes so much sense, don’t you think? I mean I love Kate Spade and it’s a clever twist on words that will represent what the afternoon is all about – fashion and fun while sipping on a glass of champers!”
“That does sound clever. But is it as clever as Mike pretending to be a lawyer?”
I don’t know who Mike is or why he’s pretending to be a lawyer, but Scott tells me Suits fans will know.
March
Can you believe it’s March already? Where have the last two months even gone?
For me they’ve gone on a combination of specialist appointments and sitting at my desk. Try not to be jealous.
It’s my birthday on Monday, which I’m not really looking forward to.
It’s not an age thing. I’m definitely not worried about that – turning 44 is quite ok with me – I’ve just never really liked celebrating my birthday.
But this year Scott wants to change that, so he’s gone ahead and organised something. All I know is that whatever it is, it’s happening next weekend and lovely friends are involved.
He couldn’t organise it for this weekend because Adele is here. In Brisbane, not Chateau K&Co. We did offer but she declined. Are you seeing Adele perform while she’s in Australia or NZ?
Housework
What is it with the floors needing vacuuming every other day? When DID they become so high maintenance?
I’m choosing to ignore the mess and embrace the crunchy floor factor. If I ever start buying lotto tickets and then actually win anything, hiring a cleaner would be the first thing on my list!
Come on in. Ignore the crunchy floors!
That’s about it from me. Want to share what’s new with you? I’d love to know.
Have you had any visitors lately? Going to Adele? Got crunchy floors? Tell me all the things!
