Look I don’t want to alarm you, but I have my own herb garden. With actual herbs. That are still growing. Even though I constantly forget to water them. Look, here’s a visual…
That’s basil. And it’s handy for all sorts of things, but my favourite thing to do with it is turn it into fresh, home made basil pesto. I know. I’m gardening AND whipping up my own pesto, which I’ve been enjoying for lunch lately with a serve of crackers and a side of fresh fruit. Yep, I’m pretty much a free range vegan. As long as you don’t count the cappuccino I wash the basil pesto down with or the 1/2 a kilo of meat I serve for dinner most nights. Apart from that, and the eggs I put in all the baking I do, yep, totally vegan!
Here’s how you can make your own basil pesto too. I promise it’s not as daunting as it sounds…
[yumprint-recipe id=’9′]Now following on from the ‘What’s A Blog’ posts featuring my mum a couple of weeks ago, a few of you have asked if Pam can do a guest post here every now and again. I haven’t asked her yet, mainly because the idea of explaining what a guest post involves is kind of making my brain hurt, but also because I’m fairly sure she’d answer with something like, “That sounds fabulous. How do I get into your computer to do that?” So instead I thought I’d give you a snippet of information about Pam in blog posts that are relevant.
So here we go with a little thing I like to call Pam Facts….
Pam Fact #1:
Pam also has her own herb garden. Which kind of blows my mind as the only thing she makes for dinner these days is reservations at various local restaurants. I asked her what she used her herbs for and she replied with, “Mojitos of course. Why else would anyone grow mint?”
Well played Pam. Well played.
Ever made your own pesto? Or perhaps you have a mum who grows herbs purely for cocktail purposes?
