It’s been a while since I’ve done any baking. I think it’s more a time issue than anything. That and I do love to inhale all of the sweet things that come out of the oven. So basically avoiding baking kind of helps keep the whole tight pant situation from becoming an issue yet again.
But on the weekend we celebrated our son’s 16th birthday, so naturally that called for cake.
He had a few friends over on Saturday night and while they grazed on the salad I made for them

This is the only chocolate cake I ever make. It’s really easy, tastes delicious and always turns out of the pan with a lovely flat top. That makes it so easy to smother in icing – or frosting for the US readers amongst us.

Yep, I slather that buttercream icing on top of the cake like I’m a brickie troweling cement. Because everyone knows calories don’t count when it’s a birthday, right?
Also, look at me go with the tradie talk. I’m not entirely sure where that even came from to be honest. Feel free to hold an intervention when I start making accurate sport references.
