This post is brought to you by The Body Shop At Home
Welcome to a brand new segment on the blog; My Style File, where I introduce you to a business, a blog, a product or an opportunity that I think you would enjoy learning more about. We’re kicking things off today with a quick Q&A with a Body Shop At Home Consultant. When I came up with idea of interviewing a consultant and asked if the team from The Body Shop At Home had someone suitable, little did I know that I would be interviewing a consultant with such an impressive success story. So lovely readers, grab yourself a cuppa and meet our very first Style Filer, Cindy Dinh…
Hi Cindy! Welcome to the blog. Can we start off with you telling us a little bit about yourself…
Sure. I’m 42 years of age, with two beautiful children, Kailan is 9 and Maddison is 5. We live in a pretty little seaside town called Victor Harbor in South Australia.
Lovely. So tell me, what inspired you to become a Body Shop At Home consultant?
I was on maternity leave from my government position and desperately did not want to return to work! I had been in the government since I was 17 years of age and had worked my way up to an ASO5 but did not want to have to put Kai into childcare and miss out on watching him grow up. We have a mortgage, like most people, so I had to find something that would pay the same as I was making at work but enabled me the flexibility to work around my young family and work from home. I went into a Body Shop store one day to buy my cousin a present and on the bag it said if you want to start your own business to give them a call – so I did, and what a life changing decision that was for us as a family.
And how long have you been a Body Shop At Home consultant?
I started in February 2005 when I was 31, so a little over 9 years now.
Wow. That’s a long time. You obviously love what you do….
Yes, I love the flexibility and not having a boss. I do the school drop off and pick up and I can nip over to the school to watch assemblies or anything else that is going on at the school. I can turn the phone off and go for a walk on the beach whenever I please and take holidays whenever we want. When the children are sick I don’t have to ask for time off……and wow school holidays, I don’t know of any other job that would allow me to take off 12 weeks each year to spend the school holidays with my children. Being a Body Shop At Home consultant is not only a business choice, its a awesome lifestyle choice.
That’s fantastic. Now I know there’s a few different party themes to choose from when hosting a Body Shop At Home party, so what’s your favourite party theme to do?
I love to do Tropical Treats parties. The host and guests just cant resist our beautiful scented Mango Body Butter and Brazil nut Scrub.
And what are your Top 3 Must Have Body Shop products?
Dreamy Deep Sleep Spray ( AKA Monster spray…..I spray it on Kai and Maddies pillow to keep the monsters away)
Vitamin C Skin Boost – feels amazing!
Aloe soothing gel – wonderful to have in the first aid kit for burns.
Ooh, yes, I LOVE the Vitamin C range. And the Monster Spray is such a great idea! So is there anything exciting coming up for you that we should know about?
YES! Carnivale is coming up in August. A 3 day event held in Melbourne that is the highlight of the year for all Body Shop Consultants as well as a new catalogue release which means NEW PRODUCTS.
That sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks so much for allowing me to interview you today. Is there anything else you would like to add or tell us about, before we wrap things up?
Always follow your dreams and give something a go. I am notoriously shy and it took me 5 months to get the courage up to join The Body Shop At Home.
I convinced myself it wouldn’t work and I would be no good at it before I even joined. If I had not had the courage to take that first step and actually give it a try I would have had to have returned to my 9 – 5 job and miss out on seeing my children grown up.
My business has a yearly turn over of 2million+ and I work it all from home around my family. At 3pm my computer and phone goes off and I become full time mummy and wife. It was a life changing decision to join, so if you know of anyone that has been thinking about giving it a go and becoming a Body Shop At Home consultant – give them encouragement and a little support to get started and they will thank you for it for a very long time.
Wow Cindy! That is one amazing success story. Thank you for sharing it with us.
