This post is brought to you by DFO Brisbane.
Now I know you’ll find this hard to believe but I’m not really into sport. I do however love a brisk 1/2 hour walk along our local esplanade 3-4 times a week. The view is spectacular and having 1/2 an hour to myself to think about absolutely nothing several days a week is something I really look forward to.
All that walking, along with a few minor dietary changes, resulted in a much healthier me last year. I lost 12 kilos and have managed to keep it off over the festive season. I know. I’m just as shocked as you are by that little achievement too!
However 2014 is here it’s going to be A New Year, A New Fitter Me. Yep, I’ve decided to get out of my comfort zone and add some yoga and pilates classes into my fitness regime.
Only problem is, I have nothing suitable in my wardrobe for yoga and I’m in desperate need of a new pair of sneakers. So when I was asked to head to DFO Brisbane to find some fitness related bargains, the timing could not have been better! Here’s what I came home with.
My first stop was Lorna Jane, where the staff were so friendly and really helpful. I purchased this gorgeous top for $30 (it was originally $56) It’s relaxed, loose fit will be perfect for all that stretching on a yoga mat and I just love the LJ burnout print on the back…
I also picked up a one litre drink bottle for $25 because we all know how important it is to stay hydrated while working out.
My next stop was New Balance, where, with the awesome assistance from one of their staff members, I purchased these sneakers…
Now I don’t want to alarm you, but they’re actually made for running. Which is something I probably won’t ever do in them. Obviously. But the lovely sales assistant who was very knowledgable about all things fitness related informed me that running shoes are the better choice when it comes to purchasing a pair of sneakers for walking in. She also insisted I go up a size, to allow more room for my feet to move around when I’m walking at a fairly brisk pace. I was tempted to say that her idea of a brisk pace might be slightly different to mine and I probably didn’t need a whole of lot of extra foot/toe room, but then I tried on a size 9 and BAM! they were the perfect fit.
Not only were they the perfect fit, but they were also on sale; reduced from $100 down to $70! So it looks like I’m all set for my New Year, New Fitter You fitness regime. All I need to do now is actually start. Which is usually the hardest part. How about you? Are you doing anything fitness wise this year? And more importantly, have you gone shopping for a new fitness related outfit yet?
