So I’m sure this will come as no surprise when I tell you that I’m not exactly an outdoorsy type of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love going for my morning walks along the waterfront, the beach is one of my favourite places to spend a holiday and I love nothing more than getting tipsy on patios but anything else that involves the great outdoors? Yeah, not so much.
Not because I’m lazy but mostly because mosquitos love me sick and attack me like they’re on some sort of crazed blood sucking frenzy. Which of course they are. So when a lovely PR agency contacted me to ask if I’d be interested in trialling a new Mosquito Protection Product called Para’Kito I was ALL OVER IT.
In order to trail this product effectively, I undertook rigorous testing on both Friday and Saturday nights right here:
Here’s Friday night in action:
As you can see by the picture, I’m wearing the velcro colour band option. They come in a variety of colours/designs and each colour band comes with two pellets that last for 15 days each.
You simply insert the pellet into the mesh pouch bit (I can’t promise you that’s the technical term, but you get the idea) and BAM! 7 different essential oils extracted from plants work their magic to naturally protect you from mosquitoes and their pesky biting.
Ok, so I won’t lie. It’s no Hermes Click Clack Bracelet and it’s a little bit on the bulky side but it totally colour co-ordinates with my Corona and I can confirm that the protection provided by the 7 essential oils meant I didn’t get bitten once. NOT ONCE.
Sophie jumped on board with the trial and gave the colour clip option a go! These are a little bit fab because they can be clipped onto pretty much anything; a bag, back pack, stroller, your clothes etc.
Sophie usually suffers terribly from mosquito bites whenever she’s outside, which unlike her mother, is a lot, and I’m pleased to confirm that she didn’t get bitten either. So far, so good!
Saturday afternoon and I decided to mix it up a bit and give the colour clip a go myself. Personally I preferred this option as it was less bulky than the wrist band and could easily be hidden by my tshirt, which is a great idea if you don’t want to rock the outdoorsy sporty look. Look, here’s a visual….
Yes, that’s me. Standing right next to nature. IN A SIZE 12 TOP. I KNOW. It really is like I’m a completely different person. Although I’m still holding a frosty beverage and I bossed Scott around like there was no tomorrow to get this shot, so things haven’t changed that much.
All in all, these little goodies by Para’Kito are, in my humble opinion, just a little bit awesome. They’re definitely suitable for the whole family; if you’re pregnant you can wear them and if you suffer from skin allergies or irritations they won’t cause you any problems because Para’Kito products are chemical free and the pellet doesn’t come in contact with the skin.
Would I buy this product for myself and my family? Yep, I totally would.
Would I wear the wristband to a swanky outdoor event? Probably not, because that’s not what they’re really designed for, but I’ll definitely be wearing it at home while enjoying an alfresco beverage or a swim (yes, they’re waterproof too.)
Would I wear it if ever I was undergoing some sort of mid-life crisis and decided to go on a bush walk or maybe even a camping trip? Absolutely.
And now here’s the best bit. You too can experience the magic that is Mosquito Free Alfresco Sundowners.
Yep, the good people from Para’Kito have supplied me with a pack comprising of 2x Para’Kito clips, worth $24.95 each, 1x Para’Kito wrist band, worth $24.95 and 1x refill pellet, worth $14.95 to give away to you! So that’s $89.80 worth of natural mosquito protection products for free. And you don’t need to do anything except click on the rafflecopter box below and leave a brief comment telling me that you’ve entered. That’s it! No pesky Facebook pages to like, no creative comments to make. Just a quick ‘hi’ in the comments section and you’re done. Although rumour has it that liking this blog’s Facebook page and leaving a comment every time you visit will actually make you 5 kilos lighter and 10 times more attractive, so you’d be silly not to do both. GOOD LUCK!
Please note: The Para’Kito goodies were sent to me for editorial review, as per my disclosure policy.
