I don’t know about you, but I love people watching at the airport. There’s always so many people coming and going and I often wonder what their stories are. Where are they going? Where have they been? Who is picking them up/dropping them off? When will they see each other again?
I’m also fascinated by people who feel it’s necessary to form a line to get onto the plane, even though seats are pre-assigned. What is that all about? Maybe it’s important for some to be first on board? I don’t know, but either way, it’s very interesting to watch!
So anyway, yesterday I was making my way home from a weekend in Melbourne with some awesome blogging mates of mine. Miss Chardy and I had just enjoyed some quality pre-flight time together in the Virgin Australia Lounge, before we said our goodbyes and headed off to catch our flights home.
I made my way to Gate 7, where the people watching was 10/10. There was everyone there from tired toddlers to enthusiastic queue formers, so I was basically in people watching at the airport heaven!
Three seats down from me was a very attractive young couple who had got engaged the night before. I know this because the gorgeous blonde girl was telling a group of randoms sitting opposite her all about it. They were in Melbourne for their 2 year anniversary and she did not see the proposal coming. He got down on one knee and she was all, “What are you doing? Get up! get up!” before he popped the question and she burst into tears.
As you can see, I was well and truly invested in eavesdropping in on this conversation and really wanted to ask where and when they’ll be getting married. I didn’t have to, because someone else did and I can confirm that the nuptials will probably be held in a year or two and might even be in Greece!
Naturally, being the borderline over sharer that I am, I wrote this status update on the blog’s Facebook page:
There were quite a few comments left on that post, but it was this one that really blew me away:
I mean can you even believe it?!
So after going in hard with the people watching/eavesdropping at Virgin Australia’s Gate 7 yesterday, I’d like you all to meet the happy couple:
Now can we just take a moment to discuss a) how incredibly genetically blessed the two of them are and b) how STUNNING their wedding day will be?!
I think the only thing left to do now is to flood the comment section with messages of congratulations to Mel and Sean. And catch up with them again once they’re happily married because I for one can not WAIT to see what Mel’s wedding dress is going to look like!
How do you feel about people watching at the airport? Has anything like this ever happened to you? And would you like to leave the happy couple a message below? I’m sure it would make their day!
