Today I’d like to introduce you to my new favourite way to wear denim, the jegging.
Not quite a jean and definitely NOT a legging, the jegging is the comfortable cheats way of wearing a pair of jeans.
There are plenty of jeggings available in stores and online now that the cooler weather is has arrived.
Here’s what I look for when trying a pair on:
- thick denim fabric with a bit of stretch. If the fabric isn’t thick, put them back on the rack, because you my friend are holding a pair of leggings.
- a comfortable waist band that doesn’t feel like it’s cutting me in half. Breathing is a fairly vital part of my day, so a good pair of jeggings will allow you to do that easily!
- a true skinny leg fit. That’s pretty much the whole point of a jegging – you can get the skinny leg look without actually wearing skinny leg jeans.
The pair currently on high rotation in my wardrobe are the Rockmans Fashion Biker Jeggings.

Styling Tips:
When choosing a pair of jeggings, always go for a snug fit. I’m usually a size 14 in jeans but I’m wearing a size 12 in the Biker Jeggings.
Yes, it felt a bit like stuffing a sausage into its casing when I was trying to get them on in the change room, but once they were on they were the perfect fit! Firm and fitted but with just the right amount of stretch to give a little bit as you wear them.
A longer top and a pair of heels will instantly add height! When I shared the photo above on the blog’s Facebook page a reader commented that I looked taller than usual. I can confirm that while I have lost a bit of weight in recent months, I definitely haven’t grown!
The gypsy top is a good length because it elongates my short waist, giving the illusion of height, while also covering the top of the jeggings nicely (nobody really needs to see the elasticised waistband. It’s made for comfort not show.) The skinny fit of the jeggings are a flattering cut for EVERYONE – really, they are – while a pair of heels add the final height difference.
Look for additional features. Little extras such as the panel detail on the front of the Biker Jeggings add a bit of interest to your outfit and are a good alternative to the ripped boyfriend jeans look, if that’s not quite your thing.
Will there be a pair of denim jeggings in your wardrobe this Autumn/Winter?
