This post is brought to you by DFO Jindalee
So last Thursday I completed my very first DFO Official Blogger mission and let me tell you, it was a lot of fun! I had a $50 Typo voucher and a $50 Cosmetics Fragrance Direct voucher to spend and was given the *ahem* task of purchasing items that would be suitable for Christmas. My first stop was Typo and here’s what I came home with…
1 // a 2014 calendar, $5 with any purchase (yes please!)
2 // a 10 piece set of wooden cutlery, reduced from $9.95 to $5 (perfect for the kids table on Christmas Day)
3 // a set of 4 pastel tea light holders, reduced from $15.95 to $5 (they’ll go on the grown ups table)
4 // an A4 gold and hot pink polka dot notebook (um, hello latest colour crush!) reduced from $12.95 to $5
5 // two super cute mini xmas trees which were $9.95 each or two for $10 (bargain!)
6 // two packets of gorgeous mini glass ornaments which were $9.95 each or two for $10 (because every mini tree needs mini ornaments!)
7 // 5 aqua gel pens on sale for $1 each
8 // Eiffel Tower scissors. I mean, really. I think we all know how I feel about Paris, so these were a definite ‘must have’ item and came in at only $5. Winning!
9 // two packets of metallic alphabet stickers, reduced from $4,95 a packet to $1 a packet
And here’s what I did with it all when I got home.
I decorated the cute as could be trees with the equally adorable mini glass baubles:
and added the trees and the tea light candle holders to my pre-existing wreath and candle arrangement…
I then used these items to put together little cutlery packs for the nieces and nephews to use on Christmas Day…
Now some people might scoff at purchasing a product that comes in a fairly significantly damaged box like the wooden cutlery above, but it didn’t worry me in the slightest because I knew the packaging would be going straight in the bin as soon as I got home and $5 for a set of 10 knives, forks and spoons that were all in perfect condition is too good of a bargain to say no to! Here’s what it all looks like now…
On Christmas Day I’ll also give the kids one of the aqua gel pens each, along with some paper, so they can (hopefully!) amuse themselves for a while in between main course and dessert.
Next stop was Cosmetics Fragrance Direct, where I had a lot of fun picking out items that would be suitable as last minute gifts/secret santa gifts/stocking fillers/hostess gifts. The staff were so lovely and helpful while I was shopping and even let my assistant (Sophie) try some of their One Direction fragrance, which was so nice of them and made Sophie’s day!
Now if Miss Sophie had her way, she would’ve ensured the $50 voucher was spent on the One Direction perfume (which, btw actually smelt quite nice) but I was on a mission to show you all how far $50 goes, so that purchase will have to wait for another day. Let’s have a look at what I came home with, shall we?
While Cosmetics Fragrance Direct has an incredible array of perfume at up to 70% off the recommended retail price, they also have amazing prices on skincare, cosmetics, candles and other bits and pieces. So that’s what I went for…
1 // Sugar Baby Golden Girl Kit, normally $24.95, their price: $14 (great price and beautifully packaged)
2 // MOR Essentials Honey Nectar Hand & Body Wash, normally $19.95, their price: $8 (!)
3 // MOR Orange Blossom Hand Cream, normally $32, their price: $8 (!!) In fact all of the MOR products were significantly reduced and so beautifully presented that I’m kicking myself I didn’t buy a few other things from their range.
4 // The Aromatherapy Co Citrus Kitchen Co. Candle, normally $19.95, their price, $5 (I’m going to wrap this one in cellophane, finish with a ribbon bow and BAM! it will make a lovely hostess gift for a Christmas Dinner Party I’m off to next weekend.)
5 // Essence 24hour hand protection balm, Gingerbread Chai Latte scented, $2. What a cute stocking filler this will make!
6 // MOR Bauble Gift Pack with Lip Balm inside. Normally $12.95, their price, $8. How cute will that look hanging on the tree?!
7 // Candy Couture Bauble filled with a lipstick and nail polish, $5. Another cute bauble for the tree and the perfect gift for an unexpected visitor.
Now I know this is a sponsored post (please read my disclosure policy if you’re not sure what I’m talking about), but I think you know me well enough to know that I’m nothing if not honest. And honestly, Sophie and I had a great day out! The staff at both stores were so friendly and helpful and happily chatted to me about their in-store offers etc well before I had introduced myself as a DFO Official Blogger. I was really surprised how far $50 went at both stores and if you’ve got any Christmas shopping left to do, I’d highly recommend a trip to DFO Jindalee.
