Right, so as we all know I put myself on a shopping ban for all of April. I know. You’re right. I don’t know what I was thinking either!
Anyway, today that silly little shopping ban ended so I did what any self confessed shopaholic does and took myself off to my local Westfield for a spot of shopping and ended up only getting one thing.
Disappointing, I know, but to be fair I was shopping in a High Pressure Situation. I only had two hours up my sleeve before I had to meet my mum for lunch and the centre is currently undergoing a major renovation which presented itself with two major issues.
- I had no idea where any of my usual shops were as most of them have either relocated or temporarily closed for renovation, which left me shocked, bewildered and slightly confused.
- I was forced to walk on what can only be described as turn of the century flooring conditions, which slowed me down considerably!
But before you all start feeling sorry for me and my first world problems, I probably should mention that I thought of each and every one of you at the beginning of the day when I ordered my coffee.
You see the lovely lady behind the counter took my order and we had a conversation that went a lot like this:
Lovely Lady: “You work in the centre don’t you?”
Me: “Um, no I don’t. But I do get asked that a lot.”
Lovely Lady: “My god, you’re here all the time. I could’ve sworn you worked here. I was about to give you a staff discount!”
I laughed so hard at that comment, I think the people around me thought I was having some sort of fit.
Then I thought how each and every one of you would probably laugh at that conversation too. And how maybe some of you might gently suggest that I need some sort of therapy for my possible shopping addiction. Which is just a ridiculous notion because let’s face it, if I was to give up shopping, this would be one boring blog!
How about you? Ever been asked if you work in a shopping centre or is that just me? Tell me everything….
