So remember how I was lent a very cool Olympus camera a few months ago? It was all part of the Kidspot Voices of 2014 sponsor challenge, where I was given a camera to use for 3 months and belt out a couple of blog posts to be in the running to win some awesome prizes when the Voices of 2014 comp comes to an end next month.
Well, when it was time to give the camera back, the good people at Olympus said we could buy the camera at a crazy reduced price if we wanted to. I’d completely fallen in love with the camera by then, so it was a “Yes please!” from me.
Last night I headed out for dinner with some girlfriends and before I left, I set up the camera on a tripod and used the camera’s app to turn my iPhone into a remote! Here’s the result:
I whacked that photo up on Instagram and there were so many lovely comments and questions left there about my outfit and hair, so I thought I’d answer them right here!
Let’s start at the top and work our way down, shall we?
Hair: Yep, my hair is straight in that photo. I had it blow dried straight-ish the day before (I always ask for “Lots of volume with big fat curls at the bottom, thanks!”) and because my hair is super fine, the next day it looks a bit straggly. So I teased it up a bit at the front and pulled it into a pony tail.
Earrings: They were a purchase from Guess in the US about 5 years ago.
Kimono: Fireworks Cape by Estelle, size S. Purchased online from Myer last week during their 30% off sale.
Estelle Clothing are ‘plus size’ and I’m such an in betweener when it comes to what size I am. I mean, I can be anywhere from a size 12 to a size 16, depending on the brand, so you’ll find me dressed in a combination of regular sizes and plus sizes.
This kimono/cape is a little bit too big for me, but I fell in love with the length (the longer kimonos overwhelm my short frame) and the larger cut is actually really comfortable!
Tank Top: Perfect Tank from Sussan, size L. Purchased last year.
Jeans: Boyfriend Jean by Autograph, size 14. Purchased online a couple of weeks ago when Autograph had a sale.
They’re really comfortable (hello stretchy denim!) and are a really flattering cut for those of us out there with a short waisted, hourglass shape. Again, they’re a little bit too big for me (Operation Loose Pants is finally paying off!) but I can solve that problem by washing them in hot water and throwing them in the drier. Plus, I’d rather have my jeans a smidge too big, than wear smaller jeans and have to endure an uncomfortable muffin top all day/night long!
Shoes: Purchased from Macy’s (USA) in June, for the bargain price of 40 bucks!
So there we have it. My very first outfit post, which was actually a lot of fun.
Maybe I’ll start doing a few more outfit/fashion posts? What do you think? Want to come Shopping With Kirsten more often?
