So last week Sophie decided to invite some friends over for brunch. She picked the colour scheme (based on one of the guests favourite colour, green), came up with a menu and then promptly appointed me as the stylist/chef/cleaner of the event. I think it’s safe to say that delegating is her strong point!
Here’s what Sophie came up with:
Brunch Refreshments:
There was a choice of milk, juice, water (for the kids) and champagne (for the Mum’s)
Brunch Menu:
Breakfast Parfaits (layers of vanilla bean yoghurt, muesli and blueberries), croissants, pancakes with maple syrup and mini fruit salads.
Table Setting:
Sophie hand wrote place cards for each guest and filled the polka dot bags with a balloon, bottle of bubbles and pencil to take home. She then set the table, keeping to the green, black and white colour scheme.
The Finer Details:
Because this was a last minute event, I purchased everything from the local $2 shop and spent a grand total of $22 on the goodie bags, serviettes, balloons, black bottles of bubbles, green ribbon, black ribbon, straws & plastic milk bottles.
I made all the food myself and spent a total of $85 for 8 people, including drinks.
Parfait cups were purchased from KMart for Bailey’s Cold Rock Party last year.
White cake stands and platters were from my cupboard (affectionately know as ‘The Party Cupboard’)
Flowers were a gift from Scott the day before.
So for a grand total of $107, I reckon Soph and I did alright ๐
Have you ever hosted a brunch? Or put one on with your kids?
