Usually around this time of year I go all out with the whole Christmas decorations thing. I pick a colour scheme (last year it was a Pastel Vintage Christmas), set up the big tree and go in hard with the Tonia Todman decorating action.
But this year we’re moving out of our house two weeks before Christmas, so I needed to think of some easy Christmas decorations that wouldn’t be too painful to put up and take down. Here’s what I came up with:
Now before you freak out and think, “Holy crap, that doesn’t look anything like a super easy Christmas decorating arrangement, what is this chick on about?!” let’s break it down and discuss the details.
Super Easy Christmas Decorations
1. The white stand, love heart tea light candle holder and frame of the kids were already in the house. I just moved them to this new spot and started setting up the rest of the Christmas decorations.
2. The wreath was purchased last year and the candle was sitting on my coffee table. I shoved the candle in the wreath and BAM! That shelf was sorted.
3. I purchased the lightbox a while ago from Typo. I really wanted the word ‘Christmas’ on their, but there weren’t enough letter r’s in the letter set that comes with the lightbox, so ‘xmas’ it is. The teacher in me is getting mild anxiety just looking at the word, but that’s nothing a festive G&T can’t fix!
4. I purchased the cute mini Christmas tree from Bed, Bath and Table a couple of years ago when I put together a Christmas themed birthday party for Sophie (click here to read all about that one!), so I pulled it out of the cupboard, whacked on a set of red stars I bought at IKEA two years ago, threw a set of fairy lights from Kmart around it and the Christmas tree was done!
5. We can thank the awesome staff at the Myer Giftorium for the colour co-ordinating gift wrapping. You might recall that I went to the bloggers launch of the Giftorium concept last month (click here for that post) Anyway, I was so impressed with what they’re offering that I made an appointment with a Giftician a couple of weeks ago and got ALL my Christmas shopping done in under 4 hours. The staff then gift wrapped everything for me, while I went downstairs to the clothing section and bought myself a few things and had a coffee. Genius concept (which also happens to be free!)
6. The HoHoHo sign was purchased a couple of years ago from Kmart for 5 bucks, while the timber blanket box that everything is sitting on was a gift from Mum and Dad when I was in my 20’s.
So there you have it! Super Easy Christmas Decorations that really are easy!
What’s happening at your place for Christmas? Do you go in hard with the decorations or keep things simple?
