So if you follow me on Instagram* and Facebook, you’ll know that I’m a little bit in love with all things Target USA. Specifically, Target Anaheim, conveniently located a brisk 17 minute walk from our hotel. I know it’s 17 minutes, because I’ve done that brisk walk 3 times now. I know that sounds like a lot, but to be fair, I’ve got several friends and blog readers planning on visiting the Disneyland area in the next 12 months or so (I’m looking at you Belinda, Sammie and Suzanne W!) so technically I was doing blogging research on each and every trip!
* Please note that my Mum has now managed to track down my Instagram account. This is not great news. I mean, I kind of feel like I’m 14 again and she’s reading my diary. On the plus side, she hasn’t worked out how to comment under my photos yet, so that’s a bonus! Oh and she also reads this blog, so on the count of three, let’s all say hi and freak her out a bit. You ready? 1.2.3…“Hi Pam!”
But back to the ‘research’ I did for you all at Target. Let’s have a little look at some of the things I purchased, shall we?
Purchase #1: Beer. Yes, you can totally fling a 6 pack of ‘ronas in your oversized plastic trolley while casually shopping for kids clothes at Target USA. It’ll set you back a measly 7 US bucks for a 6 pack, which leaves lots of cash for important items like Doritos and chocolate dipped pretzels.
Purchases #2 and 3: A really cute light that is battery operated and only $10 (!) and an even cuter chevron sheet set for Sophie ($17!)
Purchase #4: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nailpolish. This stuff is a total nail game changer. It’s US$8.99 and gives a long lasting gel finish without the need for a UV light. I KNOW! Amazing! I’ve done a bit of research and according to the Sally Hansen AU Facebook page, it will be released in Australia soon. Yay!
Purchase #5: Fresh raspberries. $2.99 a punnet and they tasted like actual raspberries! I don’t know where the ones I buy at home are grown, but they taste like soft cardboard in comparison to the US raspberries.
Purchase #6: Garnier Dark Spot Treatment Masks. Ever since stepping of the plane, my skin has been so dry. Walking in 35 degree heat everyday hasn’t helped either and when you add in other factors such as a 41 year old face that is collapsing AND riddled with old lady age spots, things aren’t looking too good!
So I picked up a packet of these masks for US$14.99 and smothered my face with one last night. Sadly it didn’t make me look 10 years younger, but it did leave my skin feeling amazingly hydrated and very fresh. Does anyone know if you can buy these in Australia? Because if you can’t I think I might have to hot foot it back to Target and stock up!
And now, just for fun, let’s have a look at some of the things I would’ve LOVED to have purchased but couldn’t because, well, I wasn’t sure how I’d fit them in my suitcase…
Gorgeous kid’s chairs for US$72!
Stunning range of desk essentials (yes, gold scissors and matching thumb tacks are totally ‘essential’!) by Nate Berkus…
Very cute storage range….
And don’t get me started on the towels! How stunning are they?!
So there we have it. I think it’s probably safe to say that I’m probably in need of some sort of Target 12 Step Program, but hey, it could be worse. I could be sitting in a hotel room in Las Vegas wondering if I should duck downstairs for a quick round of black jack!**
**may or may not be sitting in a hotel room in Las Vegas wondering if I should duck downstairs for a quick round of black jack at this very moment. I’ll let you decided if that’s actually happening or not.
Have you ever visited a Target in the USA? How did you go with excess baggage costs on your return flight home? (asking for a friend!
