Earlier this week I was having a bit of whinge and asking for blog post ideas. Kim from Land of Zonkt kindly suggested I join in with the latest bloggy Q&A that’s doing the rounds, which I’ll do next week, so stay tuned for that!
The very funny Mumabulous thought a pervy post about man crumpet might be the go, which let me tell you, was an excellent idea and one that I’ve been researching extensively on the inter webs. Because I am a little bit OCD in my approach to all things research related, I decided to google hot men alphabetically. It’s quite an arduous task, what with so many good looking men out there with names beginning with A and B, so I skipped those and went straight to C. You’re welcome!
Lovely reader, Kelpad suggested I whip up something crafty and do a tutorial on how I made it. As luck would have it, I’m off to a Annie Sloan Chalk Paint workshop being held at the Problogger Conference in a couple of weeks, so there will definitely be some craft action happening here sooner rather than later!
And finally, Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid left this cracker of a comment:
It’s safe to say Sammie had me at ‘why not go shopping’, so here we go with this week’s Friday Five: The What’s Going Down In Retail Town Edition (thanks Sammie!!)
Retail Town Purchase #1: Books
I’m always purchasing books. So much so, that when the courier driver delivered my Nespresso frother last week he said to me “It’s nice to finally deliver you something other than a book.” Cheeky!
My latest book purchases include Unlock Your Style by the very talented Nikki Parkinson from the blog Styling You, Nourish by Lorna Jane and Adore, a beautiful hard-cover book filled with gorgeous interior spaces, created by designer, Loni Parker. All three books are on high rotation when I sit on the couch, soaking up with gorgeous winter sun when I should actually be doing the housework.
Retail Town Purchase #2: A Pineapple
Earlier this week I jumped on board the pineapple train and picked up this $9 beauty from Kmart. There were only 3 left on the shelf and I had every intention of gently placing all three into my trolley, but as I was putting the first one in there, some old duck actually pushed me out of the way to get her hands on the last two pineapples. Rude! I mean who knew something as pretty as a pineapple could make a senior citizen so aggressive?! Not me, that’s for sure.
Retail Town Purchase #3: A Fancy Hand Towel
When I grow up and get some sort of a book deal/talk show/garnier contract that brings me in great wads of cash, I would like to decorate my entire house in all things Country Road. In the meantime, this yellow hand towel is about all I can afford. I picked it up on sale at Myer and love the little pop of sunshine it adds to our powder room. Which is basically a fancy pants way of saying toilet.
Speaking of Toilets….
Purchase Number 4 is tres glam.
Yes, I purchased toilet paper. It was on sale at Coles for $4.50, which is half price people! Half price! So into the trolley it went. In other, totally unrelated news, I think I may need to get out more.
Retail Town Purchase #5:
I bought a cute little anchor necklace from Lovisa earlier this week. I’m not normally a nautical kind of girl, but I’m off to my very first Problogger Conference in a couple of weeks and there’s a cocktail party on the Friday night that is themed ‘Ahoy’. I thought the anchor necklace would be a cute addition to my outfit but when I got home and went to try it on, the chain crumbled in my hands. I only paid 8 bucks for it, so I threw the chain out and now I’m going to try and figure out how I can add it to my very OTT blingy necklace arrangement I purchased from Sussan a few months ago.
So there we have it. Thanks Sammie for suggesting I hit the shops and let you all know what’s going down in retail town! It was a genius idea and one I’m sure I’ll implement again soon.
Have you made any purchases lately? Are you going to ProBlogger? If so, will you be embracing the Ahoy theme and dressing like a pirate?!
