Look I’m not going to lie, The Week That Was: 40th Birthday Edition has been a tough one!
Monday and Tuesday were a spent clocking up some hardcore couch time, after my bigger than expected 40th celebrations last Saturday night. But it wasn’t all lazy days and borderline overdosing on panadol. Nope. There were a few surprises along the way. On Monday there was a knock on the door and a courier dropped a parcel off. Which was from my awesome cousin, Dal, who’d sent me this little package….
And this is what was inside….
I laughed so hard when I opened the mouse pad and kiwi-ana key ring. Readers who aren’t from NZ probably won’t find it funny, but trust me, it’s funny as bro.
Then there was another knock at the door and it was my Mother in Law. With my very cute niece and nephew in tow. They called in for a cup of tea (MIL), some of my baking (the kids) and a present drop off (for me)….
Monday afternoon was here before I knew it, and the school run had to be done. But not before I made a sneaky stop at the local IGA to pick up a Frosty Fruit in the hope it would cure my never ending hangover.
Tuesday was the last day of my 30’s. And just look how I spent it!
Yep, doing the groceries followed by cleaning the bathrooms. I know. The glamour never ends!
In between the household chores I finished the last entry in my Kikki K 365 book. And wished the rain would bugger off….it didn’t.
So Wednesday arrived and I was finally 40. Gifts were received…
Lunch at the local winery was consumed…
And as if a trip to Paris wasn’t enough, Scott excelled in the kitchen by whipping up this sponge cake. Which shocked me more than it’s shocked you. I mean, I’ve been with this guy since 1994 and had no idea he had such mad skills in the kitchen!
Thursday I met my lovely friends from school. (Not my school, but the kids school) Where they spoilt me rotten with a gorgeous breakfast and a voucher for a facial. Thanks girls xox (on a random side note, isn’t it lovely when your kids choose friends who have lovely mums and those mums become your friend? Such a bonus, in the best possible way!)
Thursday afternoon was spent admiring the beautiful flowers given to me by my very clever friend, Lis
And today is Friday* Obviously. It’s been a busy week. And one that’s shown me there’s nothing more important in this crazy thing called life, than the love of your family and friends. Thanks everyone for your beautiful birthday messages, cards and gifts. You’ve all made turning 40 a birthday to remember xox
*PS: There’s 10 bonus points up for grabs if anyone can guess where I am today 😉
