On Saturday night Team Smith headed out to a fancy school awards night thing where the dress code was ‘dress to impress.’
Going out to events like that are few and far between around these parts, so while I was getting ready and during the evening, I noticed there were quite a few things I can not do. Can you relate?
1. Paint my own nails. Seriously, despite my best efforts my nails basically looked like they’d be painted by a toddler. Anyone have any tips to making this task a bit more successful?!
2. Grow normal sized finger nails. I have teeny tiny finger nails. I think that comes from my Dad’s side of the family, who have also given my quite short fingers (thanks Dad) but to balance things out nicely, I’ve been given Mum’s rather wide knuckles.
This means I can never wear bangles (can’t get them over my hands!) but slipping those short fingers into a pair of gloves is never a problem. Not that I actually ever wear gloves, but it’s handy to know I have the ideal hands for them should I ever relocate to Canada.
3. Take a decent photo with Scott/Guns. Honestly, it took us that many attempts to get a semi-decent photo together that once we finally got one that was borderline Instagram worthy, Bailey said “It would be so much easier if you were an Interior Designer and just took photos of couches!”
4. Look like my children. When they were little they both looked just like me, but now that they’re older, they look nothing like me and everything like Scott.
Throughout the evening several people commented on this “They both look so much like Scott, don’t they?!” “Look at Bailey all grown up in his suit! He looks so much like Scott!”, although I did point out that both kids have a lot of my traits “They do look a lot like Scott, although when they spill things down their front or walk into walls I say to myself, yep, there I am.”
5. Recover the next day. I wasn’t hungover but I was exhausted (a 1am finish will do that to an old duck who doesn’t get out much) and it took all day on the couch and several shots of caffeine to recover!
Ok, now it’s your turn. Been anywhere fancy lately? What are some things you can not do?
