If you’re looking for some quick and easy baked goods to whip up in the lead up to Christmas this year, look no further!
I’ve done the research for you and found three posts from the depths of this blog’s archives that meet my strict criteria of the following:
A) Must be easy to make
B) Must be reasonably low-cost
C) Must look VERY impressive when finished
Now the only one to just scrape in their on criteria B is the Kit Kat Cake, purely because it requires 10, yes 10, Kit Kats to make it. This does make it a bit of a pricey home-made cake to make, however if you can grab the Kit Kats when they’re on sale AND tell yourself that buying a cake like that would cost the equivalent of 47 pairs of shoes* then I think we can all agree it’s still a bargain**
*may be an approximate number. Rounding up or down is permitted when calculating the cost of your own shoes.
**the logic is there somewhere. It’s just hidden very, very deeply in the paragraph. No point in looking for it because I don’t think we’ll find it and besides, Hide and Seek never was my strong point.
3 Easy Christmas Recipes
1. A Kit Kat Cake
You can find all the instructions in this positively vintage post from December 2011 right here: How To Make A Kit Kat Cake.
Without sounding like a total show pony, I’d been blogging for 3 months when I whipped up that cake and it, along with Sophie’s Christmas themed birthday party I put together, were picked up by two massive US-based websites, Amy Atlas and The TomKat Studio.
As a result, the blog WENT OFF and I was completely clueless about what to do next. It was 2011 and blogging was still quite a new thing. I had the networking connections of a flea so I did what I do best…nothing.
That’s right, I let a golden blogging opportunity slip right through my fingers. I probably should think about writing a book about what NOT to do when starting a blog. I’ve certainly got enough expert knowledge to fill a few hundred pages!
2. Mini Christmas Cakes
These are the loveliest little Christmas Cakes to make for family and friends. I make a batch of them every year and they’re always gratefully received by whoever I hand them out to.
You can find the recipe in this post from December 2013: Mini Christmas Cakes
3. Easy Christmas Cookies
Last year Sophie made these easy Christmas cookies all by herself, so I think that pretty much proves how easy to make they really are!
If you or your kids would like to have a crack at making them too, you’ll find them here: My Really Easy Christmas Cookie Recipe
And there we have it. My 3 Easy Christmas Recipes that the whole family will love.
Ever missed a golden opportunity? Do you bake or is eating the baking more your thing?
