Let’s take a minute out of our day to discuss the very important issue of brows.
They come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Some are thick, some are thin.
Some are unruly and require regular waxing, trimming and shaping.
Others are barely there and some might be perfectly formed thanks to the magic that is feather tattooing or eyebrow makeup.
Yes, makeup for your eyebrows is a thing. A very good thing.
Not so long ago, our only option was the eyebrow pencil. Now we’re spoilt for choice and as someone who loves giving new makeup products a go, I’m not complaining!
My eyebrows fall into the unruly category and thanks to an under active thyroid and 20+ years of eyebrow waxing – I’ve only ever had my eyebrows seen to by a professional, I’ve never plucked them myself – they are starting to look a little on the sparse side.

Benefit Brow Zings Eyebrow Shaping Kit
For the past five years or so, I’ve been using Benefit Brow Zings to give my brows a bit of extra oomph each day.
My brow kit is old packaging. Now the Benefit Brow Zings Eyebrow Shaping Kit comes in a shiny silver case with a punchy pink logo on the front.
Inside however is still the same. Open it up and you’ll find a soft, pigmented wax to create shape and definition , as well as a setting powder to make sure those perfectly shaped brows stay in place all day.
There’s also a teeny tiny brush and tweezer set which I don’t use. Instead I’ve purchased a Benefit angled brow brush to apply the product.
You can apply the wax and the powder as a two-step process but I like to get my face on in under 8 minutes, so I combine the two on the brush, swipe it through my brows and BAM! I’m good to go.

The final result? Natural looking brows that are thicker in appearance and deeper in colour.
Usually I would run a brow brush through my brows to give them one final tidy up, but I wanted to show you exactly how my brows looked with only the product used and nothing else.
The Benefit Brow Zings Eyebrow Shaping Kit retails for $55
In Australia, you’ll find a Benefit cosmetic counter in most Myer stores (in store and online) Sephora also stocks Benefit.
If you live in the USA or you’re traveling there, keep an eye out for the awesome Benefit cosmetic vending machines! I walked passed one at the airport in Las Vegas a few years ago. It was shaped like a big pink bus and you could buy just about every Benefit product available.
Rimmel Brow This Way Eyebrow Gel
I was sent a duo of Rimmel Brow This Way Eyebrow Gel to trial recently.
It’s long-lasting brow gel promised to brush my brows into the perfect shape and it didn’t disappoint.
The mini precision mascara applicator makes it easy to a great brow shape. Although I was a bit heavy-handed the first time I used it and managed to swipe a fair bit of the tinted gel under my eyebrow, which wasn’t the best look!
It was easy enough to remove and a good reminder to not rush the brow shaping process.

The final result? At first glance I did feel a bit, holy brow! They’re intense.
But I love the perfectly groomed look this product creates. It’s completely smudge proof, lasts all day and at a RRP of $12.95 it’s definitely affordable.
