Yesterday Scott and I were sitting on the beach (again. I KNOW. I’m sorry. I promise there’s only 3 days left and then we’ll be back to endure the cold Aussie winter and all of this Hawaiian beach torture will be over for us all!) when Scott made the comment that the guys who worked on the beach putting up the umbrellas looked miserable even though they worked on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
“Well, yeah,” I replied, “I’d be miserable too. They get to dig a hole in the sand, shove an umbrella in it and then watch people on holiday enjoy the sun and the water all day long. I reckon that would actually be quite a depressing job!”
Which got me thinking, what’s your dream job?
Would it be putting up umbrellas in the sand on Waikiki? Or something else? Maybe it’s the job you have now, or maybe it’s one you’re working towards?
Teaching was my dream job as a kid and one that I loved for the 10 years that I did it.
If you had’ve told me when I was a uni student that when I was in my 40’s I’d be raising two kids and earning a part time income via blogging and an online Print Shop I would’ve dropped my $1 drink on the floor of Mary Street Nightclub laughed so hard in the middle of a lecture at that idea!
And yet here we are. Smack bang in the middle of my dream job. Mostly because the role of Chief Oil Applicator for Magic Mike XXL was taken, but really, when I think about it, my hands don’t like to get too greasy so I think I’ve made the right choice!
So tell me, what’s your dream job? Working on the set of Magic Mike XXL or something else?!
